Remember your license is governed by Chapter 464 of the Florida Statutes. It is your responsibility to be familiar with this document as to how many contact hours are required.
Florida RNs, ARNPs, and LPNs are required to complete 24 contact hours of continuing education every two years. The 24 hours must include the Florida mandatory subject matter,hours on the New CE Rules: All Florida-licensed nurses are now in a 24-month renewal period and must complete 24 hours each renewal period. Two hours on Prevention of Medical Errors required; HIV/AIDS is now a one-time 1 hour requirement and Domestic Violence is now a 2 hour requirement every third renewal.
The Florida-mandated courses must be taken from a Florida-approved continuing education provider.St. Petersburg Chapter of NBNA is a CE Provider.Visit Ce Broker web- for more information.

WOMEN of DISTINCTION... Evelyn C.Gardner is a St.Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce 2008 Finalist!
Evelyn Gardner Honored by The Health Councils Community Service Women of the year Finalist! Evelyn Gardner, a teacher at the Pinellas Technical Education Centers campus in St. Petersburg, has been recognized by The Health Councils Inc. for her community work on behalf of chronically ill adults.
She received the honor at the inaugural Partner Salute Luncheon earlier this month at the Feather Sound Country Club. The Partner Salute Luncheon was developed by The Health Councils Inc. to recognize local residents and community groups with which it works to deliver program services.
Gardner helped plan a series of seminars for patients who have Lupus that provided needed disability rights information and resource support for individuals in Pinellas and Manatee counties.
Janie McGrew,A Manager @ VA Bay Pines Health Care System, recieved the Greater Southeast Affiliate Power to Stroke 2008 Community Ambassador Award in Atlanta Georgia.
