CLUB MANAGER's Office If you have ideas to make Post and Unit functions more fun, exciting, or profitable, please talk to the Commander, President, or Club Manager.
We want to hear from you!
WOW! What a summer this has been! We have had a great summer; from the 4th of July, to our visitation for Department Commander Harry Pawson. Lots of sun, good friends and some great food! It’s a very exciting time to be part of Post #1. The Post turned 90 on September 19th and plans were to make this an event to remember. There were VIPs, food, fun, entertainment and a special ceremony by the Viet Nam Veteran's Motorcycle Club. This ceremony is a memorial to those who served and have not come home. It was quite moving and I hope all of you were able to attend. Events kicked off at one o'clock SHARP. The Post Historian, Scott Hardon has worked closely with the Ladies Auxiliary and the SAL as they travel back in time pouring over some very significant documents! Both upstairs and downstairs bars were open, the shuffleboard area was a Museum, displaying some of our more notable artifacts. A separate Rippie Bar was opened and food was served from 2pm until gone. The Commander even roasted a pig for your culinary pleasure. With the Fall comes, Monday Night Football, Shuffleboard and Darts. The Cribbage Team also plays every Tuesday night at 6pm. Feeling lucky? Come on down and join the fun! Mondays we will be offering dinner and draft beer specials and some very interesting raffles! I also am planning on some more wine tastings. During the month of October, every Friday night R.C. Hardy will be here to entertain you. So after you have one of our great Steak Dinners, stay a while and dance to the sounds of R.C. Hardy! If you haven't been by for Friday Night Steaks, I have added a few items to the menu that have been very popular. Our menu features the ever popular steak of the week, hand dipped deep fried halibut, fried shrimp (and stuffed shrimp), and Cheeseburgers. All meals come with a salad bar, choice of french fries, onion rings, baked potato, or mashed potatoes, vegetables, roll, and dessert. You can even add seafood to your steak for an additional cost. If you don't want all the extras, you can order Fish-n-Chips or a burger and fries. We are here to make your experience enjoyable! October 24th is Early Bird!!! The theme this year is Mardi Gras. Halloween is Saturday October 31st and Post #1 is planning a great party and I sincerely hope to see all of you in your scariest costumes. Thanksgiving will be here before we know it! If you haven't purchased your chance to win $10,000, come on down and see me or one of the bartenders. We are calling it the Big Bird and he officially lands on Thanksgiving at 4 PM. You don't have to be present to win. Wouldn't $10,000 bring us all a very Merry Christmas! VOLUNTEERS! I would be remiss if I didn't say a big and heartfelt THANK YOU to all my volunteers whose help has significantly made my job easier. So here goes, a big thanks to Barby, who is my personal shopper and all around helper, and not to mention flower "girl". Marilyn Porter who consistently beautifies the Post grounds with her flowers and sweet smile! Greg Kowatch, Wenda, Mark, Scott, Jim Grant, Margie, Kelly, Barbara Jean, Phil, Harlan, Connie and Joel, Steve Martin, (my daughter) Holly Mitchell and Sandy Amacher! If I forgot anyone I am sorry. Of course, my biggest source of support and ever helpful right hand is my husband Jim Gleason and our son, Ryan. If you enjoy your Tacos and guacamole - thank Jim. He has been so great to take over the prep and clean up of all things TACOS and every other function that requires a cook. Thanks Honey. I also want to give an honorable mention to our Post handyman, "Izzy". As always, I cannot end with saying a big thank you to my employees that work so hard to help me. From my assistant, Pablo to Evie (she will still be here on call!), Vicki, Jen, Steve and occasional sightings of Allen. I hope I didn't forget anyone, but if I did, I apologize. CHRISTMAS....I am recruiting help for Christmas dinner early. Last year, I felt like the Grinch that almost stole Christmas because I had no one stepping up to help at first. If you have some time to spare, please come talk to me. Miss Tillies bar is still available for some dates for that Christmas party. Give us a call and let us help you make that function special!. There are a lot of exciting things going on at your Post. Hope to see you here!
