Troop Procedures Cold Weather PolicyThe troop leader will call the Fairbanks Int'l Airport time/temperature number (452-3553) approximately 2 hours prior to start of meeting. If the temperature is -40 or colder, the meeting will be cancelled.
Field Trips/Permission SlipsIf the troop plans to meet outside of the scheduled time or place, a permission slip is sent home for parents to sign and return. Permission slips list all information pertaining to the event and must be returned, along with any program fees, by the date listed on the form.It is GSUSA policy that we are allowed to act only on information provided to us on the permission slip. If any information you have provided changes (i.e., emergency contacts, or adults assigned to pick up your child), you must inform us in person or in writing. This is for your child's safety. Chaperones are accepted on a first come, first served basis. You do not have to be a registered Girl Scout to volunteer, unless the event in question requires it. Please inform leaders-in-charge of events (check top portion of permission slip) if your daughter will not be able to attend an event for which she has been registered. Doing so allows us to provide accurate rosters to the emergency contacts and to leave for events on time. Troop UniformsUniforms are not required for any girl to participate. Prices are reasonable, listed on Insignia form and available for purchase at GS Office.Uniforms can be important to promote group identity and promote greater sense of unity among the scouts. And, they are just a lot of fun to wear! Girls can choose any of the approved scout uniforms to wear which can be purchased from the Council Shop. Troop DisciplineGirl Scouts promise to follow the Girl Scout Law at all times:I will do my best to be Girls are encouraged to resolve conflicts by themselves and to do so peaceably. Time-outs are used only as a last resort for unacceptable behavior. We will contact you if your child has a chronic behavior problem, especially if it disrupts meetings and/or upsets other children. Troop Dues and FinancesTroop projects are financed through cookie sales, and other approved fundraising activities from the Girl Scout organization along with troop dues. As the girls progress and complete their sales, should they decide to participate in cookie sales, the following year dues may significantly drop depending on how much they earn and what projects they plan to complete. All the badges earned, activities, troop field trips, and the like come from this troop fund and/or parent donations. Please check with a troop leader for current troop due amounts.Troops can bring in their dues to each meeting or parent’s can pay in a lump some at the beginning of the year for each scheduled meeting. All checks should be made out to FNGSC Troop #83. |
