approved by An Act of the 75th Congress of the United States of America and signed and approved by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on August 4,1937.The BRANDON-WILBOURN DETACHMENT #820 was chartered by the National Headquarter, Marine Corps League on Sept. 12,1992 as a authorized subordinate local organization of the Marine Corps League.OUR NAMESAKES: Pfc. Morgan M. Brandon, a rifleman, was killed in action at Iwo Jima in Feb. 1945 and Capt. James N."Trey" Wilbourn III, an aviator, was killed in action on 23 Feb.1991 in the Persian Gulf War west of Kawait City.WEB SGT.:JAMES O. NEWELL

 The home of the North Alabama Young Marines is at the Marine Corps Reserve Training Center.The address is 3506 South Memorial Parkway,Huntsville,Alabama 35801 and phone number is [256]213-9683.The Young Marines is a offical "action' youth program of the Marine Corps League of the United States for ages 8 through High School and focal point for the Marine Corps' Youth Drug Demand Reduction Program efforts.It's mission is to promote the mental, moral, and physical development of young American.All of its activies emphasize the importance of honesty, courage, respect, loyality, dependability, and a sense of devotion to God, country, community, and family.The Young Marines motto is "Strengthening the Lives of America's Youth" The Marine Corps League adopted the Young Marines as a national program at the League's National Convention in Kansas City, Missouri.The offical charter was issued on October 17,, 1965. The offical charter for the Young Marines of North Alabama was issued August 15, 1996. We now have 3 chartered units in the State of Alabama. The North Alabama Unit,the newly formed Madison Alabama Unit and the East Central Alabama Unit based in Anniston, Alabama. Comimg soon a unit in the Birmingham area. POC Tim Gardiner 256-790-8751
