INGLEBORO DAWN RAID 12/09/04

MORNIN'!
They said it was a crazy idea !
They were right !

WET CLOUD ON THE SUMMIT

COMING DOWN AT DAWN

We left Ingleton at 5am with the intention of reaching Ingleboro' summit at 6.30 to see the sunrise .After riding and carrying our bikes and almost been blown off the hill, 6.30 came and we were on the summit - but instead of the sun there was cloud, rain and a 60mph hurricane !

APPROACHING RIBBLEHEAD VIADUCT

INTO THE HEADWIND ON SCALES MOOR

LAST PUSH OVER TWISTLETON SCARS
The ridge ride wasn't much easier than the climb, the wind was that strong that we kept getting blown off course, but at least the cloud was clearing.
With Ribblehead station in clear view we began the long descent, which was a bit sketchy as it was wet and slippy, everyone made it down in one piece.
The final stretch under the Ribblehead viaduct, over Scales Moor and Twistleton Scars was a real slog due to the valley turning into a wind tunnel.
Finally with aching legs but smiling faces we were all sat in Bernies Cafe tucking into the biggest breakfast you've seen
