Membership
eligibility is based on service
in the U.S. Armed Forces during the following periods:

6 April 1917 -- 11 November 1918 |
| World War II |
7 December 1941 -- 31 December
1946 |
| Korean War |
25 June 1950 -- 31 January 1955 |
| Vietnam War |
28 February 1961 -- 7 May 1975 |
| Lebanon |
24 August 1982 -- 31 July 1984 |
| Granada |
24 August 1982 -- 31 July 1984 |
| Panama |
20 December 1989 -- 31 January
1990 |
| Desert Storm |
2 August 1990 -- Open* |
*
Because eligibility dates for Desert Storm are still
open, all military personnel serving since August 2, 1990
(including those on active duty) are eligible to join.

Requirements for
The American Legion Auxiliary
|
You can join the Auxiliary if you are:
The mother, sister, wife,
daughter, granddaughter, great-
granddaughter, or grandmother of a current
member of The American Legion.
A female veteran who served
during any of the conflicts listed below.
A female member of The
American Legion. (Yes, women veterans can
join both!)
The mother, sister, wife,
daughter, granddaughter, great- granddaughter
or grandmother of a deceased veteran who
served during any of the conflicts listed
above.
(Eligibility also applies to
step-relatives)
