Paragould eliminates Lockeroom from Zone II Tournament

     It was a tough day for the Mountain Home Lockeroom American Legion baseball team as they were eliminated from the Zone II Tournament last night at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. The Lockeroom fell to Paragould 7-2 for their second loss in the tournament. Bryant Royer took the loss for Mountain Home after pitching 7 2/3 innings, striking out five batters, and giving up nine base hits, five walks, and six earned runs. The Lockeroom falls to 29-17 on the season.

     Their next game will be Friday night when Mountain Home hosts the state tournament. The game is slated for 7:30, and the Lockeroom will play the winner of the Zone IV Tournament.

Lockeroom drops first round game in zone tournament

     The Mountain Home Lockeroom American Legion baseball team dropped their first round game in the Zone II tournament yesterday at Arkansas State University. The Lockeroom fell to Jonesboro 5-4 after a number of errors meant Jonesboro scored only one earned run.

     The Lockeroom scored twice in the first and led 3-1 after five innings. Jonesboro would rally with three runs in the top of the 8th inning. Mountain Home tied the game at four in the bottom of the 8th. Jonesboro would answer with a run in the top of the 9th. Mountain Home had a chance in the bottom of the 9th inning. The Lockeroom had runners at first and third with no outs but couldn't score.

     Anthony Gower pitched well for the Lockeroom but did not factor into the decision. Gower worked six innings, gave up seven hits, struck out six and gave up one earned run.

     Mountain Home is 29-16 on the season and will play tonight at 7:00 against the loser of today's game between Paragould and Searcy.

Lockeroom begins zone play

     The Mountain Home Lockeroom American Legion baseball team will begin play in the Zone II tournament this afternoon at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. The Lockeroom will face Jonesboro in a first round game. Mountain Home finished fourth in zone play while Jonesboro was fifth. The winner will take on top seeded Batesville tomorrow. The Lockeroom enters the Zone II tournament with a 29-15 record.

     Don't forget tomorrow morning KTLO & Oldies 101.7 will host a radio-thon for the American Legion baseball program. Mountain Home is hosting the AAA state tournament next week and we'll be raising funds to help offset the cost of the tournament which brings seven teams from around the state into the area. The radio-thon runs from 6:00 until 10:00 tomorrow morning.

Lockeroom sweeps Blytheville to finish regular season

     The Mountain Home Lockeroom American Legion baseball team swept a double header at home yesterday against Blytheville to wrap up the regular season. Mountain Home won the first game 5-0. Evan Mickelson was the winning pitcher, giving up just three hits and striking out five in the complete game victory. Cannon Ewell hit a home run for Mountain Home and Chase Duggins and Justin Hawkins each had two hits.

     In the nightcap, the Lockeroom beat Blytheville 7-3. Ewell was the winning pitcher, working four innings and allowing three hits while striking out eight.

     The Lockeroom will being play in the district tournament Thursday at A.S.U. in Jonesboro. They finish the regular season with a 29-15 overall record and went 6-6 in zone play.

Lockeroom sweeps Jonesboro in doubleheader

     It was a good outing for the Mountain Home Lockeroom American Legion baseball team as they swept a doubleheader over Jonesboro last night at Cooper Park.

     The first game was a close one, but the Lockeroom came out on top 8-7. Billy Ninemeier was credited with the victory after pitching two innings in relief, striking out one batter, and giving up one hit. James Holder led the Mountain Home offense with three base hits, Cannon Ewell hit a homerun and a double, and Anthony Gower added two hits and two RBIs.

     The second game was just as close as the Lockeroom defeated Jonesboro 8-6. Zach Proctor took the win after pitching 1 1/3 innings in relief, striking out two batters, and giving up one hit. On the offensive side for Mountain Home, Cameron Rhodes provided two hits, and Tyler Kidder drove in two runs.

     The Lockeroom improves to 27-15 on the year. The regular season for Mountain Home concludes today as they host Blytheville for conference action at Cooper Park. The first pitch is slated for two p.m.

Lockeroom gets swept by Batesville

     It was a tough evening for the Mountain Home Lockeroom American Legion baseball team as they were swept in a pair of games with Batesville.

     The Lockeroom fell in the first game by a score of 10-4. Anthony Gower took the loss after pitching 5 1/3 innings, striking out four batters, and giving up nine hits, five walks, and six earned runs. Offensively for Mountain Home, Evan Nicholson had two base hits, and Justin Hawkins drove in two runs.

     The second game was closer, but Batesville came out on top 6-4. Bryant Royer was the losing pitcher after striking out six and giving up ten hits and six earned runs. Anthony Gower led the Lockeroom offense with two hits.
     Mountain Home falls to 25-15 on the season. The Lockeroom will host Jonesboro for conference action this evening. The first pitch is scheduled for 5:30.

Lockeroom drops two games at Searcy

     The Mountain Home Lockeroom American Legion baseball team had a rough trip to Searcy last night, losing both ends of a double header. Searcy won the first game 9-6. Anthony Gower had three hits and drove in a run for Mountain Home while Zach Proctor, Cannon Ewell and Bryant Royer each added two hits.

     Searcy won the nightcap 6-1.

     The Lockeroom is 25-13 on the season. They will host Batesville for a double header tomorrow night.

Hopper Legion team has season ended

     The Mountain Home Hopper Termite American Legion baseball team had its season ended yesterday with a loss in the A State Tournament at North Little Rock. Hopper lost 5-3 to Jacksonville. The Hopper team finishes the season with a 14-14 record.

Hopper wins at state, Lockeroom wins at home

     It was a good day for both Mountain Home American Legion baseball teams yesterday as both picked up wins.

     The Hopper Termite team stayed alive in the A State Tournament at Burns Park in North Little Rock with a 7-4 win over North Little Rock. Cody Spencer was the winning pitcher. Payton Edmondson pitched two scoreless innings to notch the save.

     Hopper Termite will play again this afternoon at 2:30 in another elimination game.

     The Mountain Home Lockeroom American Legion baseball team picked up two wins at home against West Memphis. The Lockeroom won the first game 10-8. Mountain Home trailed 6-0 at one point but erupted for seven runs in the fifth inning. Bryant Royer got the win on the mound and Billy Ninemier earned the save. Offensively, Ninemier had three hits and drove in a run, Evan Mickelson added three hits and a R.B.I., Royer drove in three runs on two hits, Anthony Gower collected two runs batted in and Justin Hawkins had two hits.

    In the second game, Mountain Home posted a 10-3 win over West Memphis. Cannon Ewell was the winning pitcher and helped his own cause with three hits. Chase Duggins had two hits including a home run, Anthony Gower had around tripper and drove in two and Don Guillory and Mickelson each had two hits.

     The Lockeroom is 25-11 on the season and will play tomorrow evening at Searcy.

Saturday's Legion results

     Both of Mountain Home's American Legion baseball teams were in action yesterday.

     Hopper Termite had a tough outing as they fell to Texarkana 5-4 in the state tournament at Burns Park in North Little Rock. Yesterday's contest was actually a completion of a game that was suspended earlier in the week due to the rain. Hopper Termite will continue action in the tournament this afternoon at 2:30 as they take on North Little Rock.

     The Lockeroom had mixed results as they split a doubleheader with Paragould at Cooper Park.

     Mountain Home won the first game by a score of 5-1. Anthony Gower was credited with the victory after pitching a complete game, striking out five batters, and giving up five hits and one earned run. Gower also led the offensive attack with three base hits, including a homerun and a double.

     It was a much different result in the second game as Paragould picked up the 17-3 victory. Cannon Ewell took the loss for the Lockeroom. Billy Ninemeier led the Mountain Home offense with three hits and two RBIs. Chase Duggins added two base hits of his own.

     The Lockeroom's record is now 23-11 on the season. Their next action is today at 1:30 as they host West Memphis for a doubleheader at Twin Lakes Park.

Hopper game suspended, Lockeroom loses

     The Mountain Home Hopper Termite American Legion baseball team got their first round game in the A State Tournament started yesterday afternoon but didn't get to finish it. Hopper was leading Texarkana 2-1 in the 5th inning when the rain started at Burns Park in North Little Rock. The game was suspended and will be resumed this afternoon.

     The Mountain Home Lockeroom American Legion baseball team lost at home last night, falling to Harrison 16-12. Anthony Gower, Tyler Kidder and Bryant Royer each drove in two runs for Mountain Home and Billy Ninemier added two hits.

     The Lockeroom is 22-10 on the season and will host Paragould tomorrow at Twin Lakes Park. Tomorrow and Sunday's games will be played at Twin Lakes Park due to the Babe Ruth State Tournament being played at Cooper Park.

Hopper American Legion team begins State Tournament today

     The Mountain Home Hopper Termite American Legion baseball team will begin play in the A State Tournament in Little Rock this afternoon. Hopper will face Texarkana at 2:30 this afternoon at Burns Park. The Legion A State Tournament will continue through the weekend.

     The Mountain Home Lockeroom American Legion team is in action at home tonight when they host Harrison. Games begin at 5:30 at Cooper Park.

Hopper moves into district title game

     The Mountain Home Hopper Termite American Legion baseball team has advanced to the championship of the district tournament being played at Wynne and has qualified for the state tournament. Hopper beat Batesville yesterday 4-3 in eight innings in an elimination game. Jared Lancaster drove in the game winning run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth. Cody Spencer picked up the win in relief, allowing one hit in two innings of work. Dakota Melton started for Hopper, working six strong innings but did not figure into the decision.

     The Hopper team will now face Jonesboro at 4:00 this afternoon. They need to beat Jonesboro twice to claim the district championship. Yesterday's win means Hopper has qualified for the Legion A State Tournament which begins later this week in Little Rock.

Hopper Termite plays for district championship tonight

     The Mountain Home Hopper Termite American Legion baseball team has earned the right to play for the district championship. Last night at Wynne, Hopper Termite only needed one run as they defeated Batesville 1-0. Mountain Home scored their run off of a double by Dakota Melton that sent Troy Naught home. Cody Spencer was the winning pitcher, and Payton Edmonson was credited with the save. Hopper Termite will move on to the championship game of the district tournament where they will face Jonesboro. The first pitch is scheduled for five p.m.

Lockeroom at Harrison tonight

     The Mountain Home Lockeroom American Legion baseball team will return to action tonight with a non-conference game at Harrison. The Lockeroom is coming off a successful trip to Springfield where they went 3-1 in the rain shortened Springfield Holiday Tournamnent. The team is 18-8 on the season.

     Tonight's game at Harrison begins at 5:30.

Springfield Holiday Invitational cancelled

     The Mountain Home Lockeroom American Legion baseball team will not be able to continue tournament action this weekend. The 36th Annual Springfield Holiday Invitational Tournament has been cancelled. According to Lockeroom Coach Lester White, the rains have not stopped in Springfield, causing the fields to wash out. The Lockeroom's next action will be Tuesday at Harrison.
