The Mountain Home Lockeroom could not come up with the timely hit and dropped its opening Pool A game of the Twin Lakes Classic 6-3 to Kirkwood, Mo., Wednesday night at Cooper Park.

"We just left too many runners on base," Lockeroom head coach Lester White said. "We just never could come up with the big hit. We also had two defensive miscues that cost us, or we could have a tie ballgame."

By: Sonny Elliott, Bulletin Sports Editor   Fri, 6 June 2008

Mountain Home drops to 3-3-1 on the year and is now idle until beginning play in the Twin Lakes Classic on Wednesday.

Fat City sweeps Exterminators
By: Neal Denton, Bulletin Sports Writer   Tues, 3 June 2008

The Mountain Home Hopper Termite Exterminators ran into a buzzsaw in the form of Jonesboro Fat City Monday night with a 17-1, 13-0 doubleheader setback at Cooper Park.

The first contest saw the Exterminators score the game's first run. Cole Lechtenberger singled and was sacrifice bunted over to second by Jared Rose, then Bo Thomas was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second.

Jared Lancaster reached on a fielder's choice which retired Lechtenberger, then Ronnie Lethiot hit a ball that was missed by the third baseman and Thomas scampered home for the first run.

Jonesboro (5-1) scored solo tallies in the third and fourth innings to take the lead, then Fat City plated four runs in the fifth inning to blow the game open and chase Exterminator starter Jared Lancaster (0-1) from the mound.

Jonesboro scored three more in the sixth to make it 9-0, then it plated eight runs off just four hits and two Mountain Home errors in the seventh to win going away.
