Friday Twin Lakes Classic schedule

     It's day two of the 21st annual Brooks Robinson Twin Lakes Classic American Legion Baseball Tournament with all 28 teams in action at four locations.

     The host Mountain Home Lockeroom team will play tonight at 8:15 at Cooper Park against Marshfield, Missouri. You can hear all of the Mountain Home games and the championship game Sunday night on Oldies 101.7.

     In other games at Cooper Park today, Jackson, Missouri takes on Searcy at 11:00; Springfield Kickapoo and Conway will battle at 1:30 and Bryant meets Springfield Hillcrest at 4:00.

     At Twin Lakes Park today, St. Louis Bud plays Continental Express at 11:00; Dyersburg, Tennessee takes on Rogers at 1:30; Sylvan Hills battles DeSoto, Missouri at 4:00 and Christian Brothers plays Dunklin County, Missouri at 6:30.

     Four games are on tap at the Cotter High School field. Jonesboro and Eureka, Missouri battle at 11:00; Athens, Alabama takes on Little Rock Blues at 1:30; the 4:00 game has West Plains playing Pontotoc, Mississippi and at 6:30, it's Springfield Glendale against Harrison.

     At the Gassville City Park today, Scott City, Missouri plays Miller at noon and Ozark, Missouri takes on Benton at 2:30.

Twin Lakes Classic begins today

     The 21st annual Brooks Robinson Twin Lakes Classic American Legion Baseball Tournament begins a four day run today. 28 teams are taking part in the tournament with four fields in three cities being used. The Mountain Home Lockeroom team will be in action at 8:15 tonight, tomorrow night and Saturday night at Cooper park. Tonight, the Lockeroom will face Miller, Missouri. You can hear all of the Lockeroom games and the Championship game Sunday night on Oldies 101.7.

     In other games at Cooper Park today, Springfield Glendale plays Sylvan Hills at 11:00; Eureka, Missouri takes on Athens, Alabama at 1:30 and Christian Brothers goes up against Springfield Hillcrest at 4:00.

     At Twin Lakes Park today, Harrison plays DeSoto, Missouri at 11:00, Springfield Kickapoo takes on Searcy at 1:30; Conway plays Jackson, Missouri at 4:00 and St. Louis Bud will battle Pontotoc, Mississippi at 6:30.

Hopper Legion team drops two at Batesville

     The Mountain Home Hopper Termite American Legion baseball team dropped a pair of games last night at Batesville. Batesville won the first game 3-2 despite a great pitching performance by Mountain Home's Cody Spencer who allowed just two hits in six innings of work. Batesville scored a run in the 6th and another in the bottom of the 7th to get the win.

     In the nightcap, Batesville topped Hopper 10-2.

     The Hopper team is 6-5 overall and 3-3 in conference play. They will host Searcy Monday night.

Lockeroom rained out again at Jonesboro

     The Mountain Home Lockeroom American Legion baseball team got less than one inning in yesterday before being rained out. The Lockeroom was playing in the Jonesboro Tournament when rain disrupted play. Mountain Home was leading Batesville 2-1 when the game was stopped.

     The Lockeroom is 5-5 on the season and will take the field again Thursday night at home against Miller, Missouri for their first game in the Twin Lakes Classic.

Lockeroom splits two games in Jonesboro Tournament

     It was mixed results for the Mountain Home Lockeroom American Legion baseball team as they split a pair of games in the Jonesboro Tournament.

     In their first game, the Lockeroom fell to Conway 10-4. Evan Nicholson took the loss for Mountain Home after pitching four innings, striking out three batters, and giving up five hits, three walks, and two earned runs. Anthony Gower led the Lockeroom offense with two homeruns and three RBIs.

     It was better result in the second game for Mountain Home. The mercy rule went into effect after the fifth inning as the Lockeroom shut out Stuttgart 11-0. Billy Ninemeier pitched a complete-game shutout, struck out eight batters, gave up three hits and two walks, and hit one batter. Ninemeier also provided plenty of offense with three hits and five RBIs.

     The Lockeroom's record is now 5-5. They will continue action in the tournament today at 3 p.m. as they will play in a consolation game at Valley View High School. Their opponent has yet to be determined.

Hopper Termite sweeps doubleheader over Wynne, Lockeroom rained out

     It was a good night for the Mountain Home Hopper Termite American Legion baseball team as they swept the doubleheader over Wynne.

     Hopper Termite won the first game by a score of 15-11. Jared Lancaster was the winning pitcher for Mountain Home. Jared Rose led the Hopper Termite offense with four hits, three RBIs, and three runs. Caleb Davidson provided two hits, drove in three runs, and stole three bases.

     The second game was even better for Mountain Home as they shut out Wynne 10-0. Cody Spencer took the victory for Hopper Termite. Troy Naught led the offense with three base hits.

     Next up for Hopper Termite will be a trip to Batesville for a doubleheader.

     The Mountain Home Lockeroom American Legion team was scheduled to take on Paragould last night at Arkansas State University in the Jonesboro Tournament. However, the game was rained out. The Lockeroom will play their first tournament game today at 12:30 p.m. when the face Conway on the campus of Valley View High School.

Friday's baseball schedule

     Their (sic) is baseball on tap for this evening, weather permitting.

     The Mountain Home Lockeroom American Legion baseball team will begin tournament action tonight at Jonesboro. Their first game will be on the campus of Arkansas State University. The Lockeroom is slated to take on Paragould at eight p.m.

     The Mountain Home Hopper Termite American Legion team will be at home this evening. Hopper Termite will host Wynne for a doubleheader. The first pitch is scheduled for five p.m.

Lockeroom gets rained out, Hopper Termite sweeps doubleheader at Harrisburg

     Both of Mountain Home's American Legion baseball teams were in action last night, but only one was able to finish its game.

     The Lockeroom team was losing to Paragould 10-1 in the sixth inning when the rain started falling. The game has been suspended and will most likely be made up in July. Mountain Home's only run came on a solo homer by Bryant Royer. The Lockeroom will take on Paragould again Friday in the Jonesboro tournament.

     It was a different result for the Hopper Termite team as they swept a doubleheader over Harrisburg.

     Hopper Termite won the first game by a score of 13-1. Jared Lancaster was the winning pitcher, and he also had three hits and two RBIs.

     Hopper Termite then defeated Harrisburg 7-2 in the second game. Payton Edmonson took the win for Mountain Home.

     Hopper Termite will be back in Mountain Home Friday night when they host Wynne for a doubleheader.

Lockeroom begins Dyersburg tourney with a loss

     It was a tough start for the Mountain Home Lockeroom American Legion baseball team as they began tournament action in Dyersburg, Tennessee. The Lockeroom fell to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, by a score of 10-3. Billy Ninemier was the losing pitcher after pitching in four innings, striking out four batters, walking three, and giving up one earned run. Offensively for Mountain Home, Anthony Gower provided two hits, including a double and two RBIs. Bryant Royer added two hits, including a two-bagger.

     The Lockeroom will continue action in the Dyersburg Tournament today. Mountain Home will face Blytheville this morning at nine, and Memphis-Apak today at three p.m.

Both Mountain Home Legion teams on the road tonight

     Both Mountain Home American Legion baseball teams will be in action tonight. The Lockeroom opens play in the Dyersberg, Tennessee tournament. Mountain Home takes on Cape Girardeau, Missouri this afternoon at 4:30. The tournament continues through Sunday. The Lockeroom takes a 3-1 record into today's contest.

     The Mountain Home Hopper Termite Legion team will be on the road at Newport trying to snap a three game losing streak. Hopper is 2-3 on the season.
