The cool darkness of March’s early morning gives way to sunshine and blue skies as thousands of Arizonans Climb to Conquer Cancer, one of the most popular fund-raising events in Tucson. Everyone is invited to participate. Hikers, runners, wheelchairs and strollers all make their way to the top of “A” Mountain, approximately a 3.1 mile distance.

Participants are rewarded with the positive energy of saving and bettering lives, the feeling of accomplishing a beautiful trek up one of the most scenic mountains in Arizona, “A” Mountain. The event concludes with a fun, family festival full of activities for children, teens, adults and seniors. Food and entertainment at the top of “A” Mountain add to the festivities.

WHO: Team Red Hat can make a difference in the fight against cancer and to help find a cure for a disease that over 500,000 Americans will die of in 2006. In the United States, cancer accounts for 1 of every 4 deaths.

WHERE: Pima Community College West Campus, 2202 W. Anklam Rd. to the top of “A” Mountain

WHEN: Saturday, March 8, 2008. The fun begins at 7 a.m. on Saturday with registration at Pima Community College West Campus and continues through noon at the top of “A” Mountain. WHY: To continue to fight back against cancer by providing support for programs of research, education, advocacy and service to cancer patients and their families.

HOW: There is a registration fee of $40 for adults per participant and $10 for children under 10 years old. Each team is to consist of a minimum of 12 people and each team member has a goal to raise $100 in donations to be turned in prior to the event. Each participant will receive a free t-shirt with a custom Team Red Hat design on the back.
