![]() Welcome to our Brinton Elementary PTO website. We will strive to provide you with the most up to date information when it comes to activities at Brinton Elementary School as well as our school district. PARENT INVOLVED SCHOOL Parent involvement can make a significant difference, both in school atmosphere and in the success rate of students. This is especially true when parents are included as partners in the educational process. Parent involvement is a powerful tool. Spread the word! Building parent involvement is one of the most inportant things we do. Research shows that when parents are involved in their children's education, the children are more likely to earn better grades, score higher on tests, pass their classes and attend school regularly. They are also more likely to have better social skills, show improved behavior, be more positive in their attitude toward school, complete homework assignments and graduate and continue their education. When parents get involved early in their children's education, the results are more pronounced and long lasting. (PTO Today, June 2009) PARENTS BENEFIT, TOO When parents become involved in their children's education, the parents are more likely to:
DADS MATTER As we begin the school year, we would like to extend a challenge to our wonderful Brinton Dads. We challenge our Dads to visit the school at least once a month. Some ways this could be achieved are:
There are many ways to become more involved. The bottom line is DADS MATTER! Dads are very important in their children's education and we appreciate our Brinton Dads. In both two-parent and father-only households where dads are highly involved in their schools, children are more likely to succeed academically, participate in extracirrucular activities and enjoy school. Children are less likely to have to repeat a grade or be suspended or expelled when their fathers are involved in their school. (PTO Today, June 2009) 2ND ANNUAL SCHOOL CARNIVAL Our 2nd Annual School Carnival will be held at Brinton on Friday, October 2nd from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. There will be a rock wall, dunk tank, bouncers, game booths, delicious food and much more! Be sure to save the date. You will not want to miss it. We are going to have raffle baskets this year at the carnival. If you would like to sponsor a basket or know of a business that may be interested in sponsoring a basket, please send us an email through the PTO website. We have already received Castles N' Coasters passes and several golf packages that will be raffled. We are also looking for other donations for the carnival. The bottled water has been donated by The Kenny Klaus Team, Keller Williams Integrity First Realty and the trash bins have been donated by SRP. Please contact us through the website if you would like to make a donation. We are also seeking volunteers to help with the food booths and inflatable/games. If you are interested in volunteering at the carnival, please be sure to sign up in your child's classroom at Meet the Teacher or contact any member of the PTO Board. Thank you for your support. We are looking forward to another successful carnival!

BOX TOPS CONTEST We had a BOX TOPS collection contest in October and Miss Craglow's 2nd grade class won the contest. They collected 811 BOX TOPS. As the winning class, Miss Craglow was able to order items from the Labels for Education Program. Brinton has collected 23,600 Labels for Education points and Miss Craglow was able to order some wonderful items for her classroom using those points. The following are some of the items she was able to order for her classroom: Play foam class pack, swing-n-ball hop (set of 6), stubby primary brush, 24 game-single digits, fast track learning geography card games, yoga cd and inflatable word blocks. Congratulations to Miss Craglow's 2nd grade class! Overall, 5,752 BOX TOPS were collected for Brinton Elementary. That means Brinton will receive $575.20. Keep collecting those BOX TOPS! We would like to thank our wonderful BOX TOPS coordinator, Loretta Perea. We appreciate her hard work and commitment to Brinton Elementary. We will be selling yearbooks again at our upcoming Grandparents Gala for $20.00. Thanks to everyone who attended Doughnuts with Dad. It was a successful event and we appreciate your support. GRANDPARENTS GALA We had a wonderful Grandparent's Gala on Friday, November 7th. The event was very well attended. There were 235 people that signed in and we served 25 dozen doughnuts/muffins. NATIONAL TEACHER & STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK -- May 3rd-7th
Have you thanked a teacher or staff member recently? One of the most essential roles of a great parent group is to create the magical atmosphere in which great teachers can do their magic well. This has long reaching impact and often starts with sincere appreciation. Do your teachers feel your support and appreciation? Do they feel it throughout the school year? If yes, then you are doing a great service to our entire school community. Join us in thanking our wonderful Brinton teachers and staff!
PAPA JOHN'S PIZZA FUNDRAISER We have teamed up with Papa John's to raise money for the 2009-10 school year. Each month we will have a Papa John's night. Our next night will be Thursday, September 17. On this day Papa John's will donate 20% of the entire day's sales from anyone mentioning our school when placing an order. When you order, not only will you be feeding your family a hot and delicious meal, but you will also be helping our school raise money. Be sure to mention Brinton Elementary School and the name of your child's teacher when ordering. As an incentive for our students, the class with the most orders will receive a free pizza party from Papa John's.
