Welcome to the Buckeye Hills Shooting Range site!

THE RANGE WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC ON THE THIRD AND FOURTH WEEKEND OF EACH MONTH!

The Range closed in February of 2007 for the construction of a new shooting range. The new range is complete, but the county has not yet found any group to manage the range that meets their minimum standard. At this point, there is no opening date scheduled.

No other details are available at this time. Contact Maricopa County Parks and Recreation for more information (602-506-2930 or maricopacountyparks@mail.maricopa.gov). Ask for Tom Timmons.

LAST PUBLIC RANGE WEEKEND WAS JANUARY 20-21, 2007.

This website is maintained by the Buckeye Sportsman Club and was used to market the shooting range when we managed it.

Old Range Description
There were target stands in the ground at 25, 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 yards.
Dirt berms were at 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 yards.
Steel Gongs were at 200, 300, 400, 500 and 600 yards.
Wood target frames were available that fit into the target stands.
.50 Cal BMG rifles were welcome, as were select-fire (full auto) firearms with proper paperwork.

The Buckeye Hills Shooting Range is located in the Buckeye Hills Recreation Area, just 5 miles south of Buckeye, Arizona. Buckeye Hills Recreation Area is managed by the Maricopa County Department of Parks and Recreation. The Recreation Area and Shooting Range is located about 10.5 miles south of I-10 on S.R. 85. For those with a GPS, the Lat and Lon is 112.64255 and 33.27679.

The Public Range weekends had been a success. A couple of thousand shooters came out and enjoyed themselves, and we had made many changes over the last 3 years. We had added shade cover over the firing line. And also had a seperate break area for eating lunch which is also covered.

The shooting range portion was managed by the Buckeye Police Department until March of 2003. That is when Maricopa County accepted the key back from Buckeye PD and began a search for a new partner. As of February 1st, 2004, it was managed by the Buckeye Sportsman Club. As of February 1st, 2007, it was closed to make way for a new range. As of February 1st, 2008, the new range is finished, but not yet open for business. The county is still looking for a group to manage the range that meets their minimum standard.
