Associate Members Marta and Richard Tellez and Marine Fernando Leon Jr. for stripping and waxing the entire clubhouse floors, Marine Ben Rivera for working on our roof as it is leaking once again, your time and generosity has saved the clubhouse a lot of money and for that we thank you.  Until next time members, please stop by the clubhouse as you circumstances will permit and remember to recruit new members when possible.

Semper Fi, Al Garcia, Commandant

Sr. Vice Commandant:

To all members of the Marine Corps League and their families, Happy New Year!  For 2008 we are looking forward in serving and by giving back to our Community.

I would like to acknowledge the Color Guard, they found a need and filled it by purchasing and donating 15 American Flags to the classrooms at Wildcat Charter School. It's time we stand together and make a difference in our youth and community.

I look forward in seeing all of you at our regular meetings.

Semper Fi, Manny Espinoza, Sr. Vice Cmndt

Jr. Vice Commandant:

The holidays are over and I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe time.  Many of you were doing some traveling during the season and I am hoping your road was smooth and your journey relaxing.  The New Year has begun and given us all the opportunity to start fresh and with a clean slate.

Let us continue to remember our fellow Marines who are deployed. Now that the holidays are over, most people tend to forget about the troops and their families – the sacrifices each makes to keep this great Nation free.  Remember them in your daily thoughts and prayers as we once were remembered by those who came before us.

At the last regular meeting, Commandant Garcia requested that we support the postal stamp being brought to the forefront for those Peacekeepers of the Beirut bombing.  On October 23, 1983 we lost 241 brothers in the Beirut bombing.  A total of 270 died during the Peacekeeping mission.  Please give your support and sign the petition at www.BeirutVeterans.org.  This was also the time period that I was on active duty and a day that I will always remember.  Rest in peace my Brothers –

Don’t forget about Expo West being held at Camp Pendleton January 16 – 17 and the Southwest Division Annual Meeting on January 18.  Kathy Robinson is your contact for any questions regarding the Expo and the annual meeting.

Semper Fidelis, Gayle Smith, Jr. Vice Commandant
