NOAC 2009
It's getting to be that time again when we start planning for the BIGGEST and BEST Order of the Arrow event in the country!!! That's right, the National Order of the Arrow Conference will be held in Bloomington, Indiana from August 1st-6th at Indiana University and will feature the best that the Order of the Arrow has to offer!!! The best in Shows, Indian Dancing, Ceremonies, Workshops, Lodge Administration classes, Personal Development classes, Sports Competitions, and the list goes on! There are just too many activities to list.... Although NOAC actually begins on August 1st, our Contingent is leaving on the morning of July 31st and will return on the night of the 6th. As many of you already know, we opened registration for the Wiki NOAC contingent on January 26th. NOAC is still very far away but, just like going to a Jamboree, the spots that are available are very limited and they are filling up fast! Expenses for this once-in-a-lifetime trip will be in the neighborhood of $900.00. This total is approximate as we cannot determine the final costs until the airlines, buses and National Boy Scout Council give us their prices. The final cost will be determined by January 2009. However, before you scream and pull all of your hair out, let me explain what that includes… Our world famous NOAC “goodie bag” that includes patches, a t-shirt, and other stuff. Airfare from Phoenix to Indianapolis, IN. Lunch somewhere in Indy. Bus transportation from Indy to Bloomington. Dinner somewhere in Bloomington. Hotel room in Bloomington (1 night) (some sleeping may be required) Breakfast in Bloomington Bus Transportation to NOAC Check in at NOAC (national’s registration fee included) Fun, Fun, and Fun Shows, shows, and more shows More Fun, Fun and Fun All meals at NOAC are included You’ll be sleeping, if you get a chance, in an air conditioned college dorm room. NOAC closing show!!! Really incredible. Last night in the dorm. Bus transportation from Bloomington to Indy. Lunch somewhere in Indy. Trip to the Indy 500 museum. Take a lap around the track. Bus transportation back to the airport. Air Transportation back to Phoenix. Safe return to your family’s loving arms. How do I get signed up?? Getting signed up is easier than you might think. First of all shoot an e-mail off to NOAC@wipalawiki.org stating your name, that you would like to attend NOAC, and your address and phone contact information. We’ll be using the e-mail address that you send from as your contact e-mail. Get out your checkbook, or get your parent to get theirs and Make a check out to BSA for $100.00 and put the NOAC attendees name in the memo field. Send it to Gary Hnydowitz, 2930 W Amberwood Dr, Phoenix, Az. 85045-2289 How does this all work?? Youth sign-up First of all, if you are a youth, get signed up now! Youth applications will be accepted first and determine how many adult slots we will have. We will accept youth applications up to the maximum contingent size. We will, of course, hold out enough slots for adults to ensure a safe trip. Adult sign-up We have 2 rules about adults… Our contingent must have at least a 2 to 1 ratio of youth to adults. Every adult must have a job. Now that that’s out of the way, we will be assigning jobs and confirming reservations as we get closer to summer. The big thing here is that with the exception of selected job assignments, we will do our best to stick to a first come first served basis. If you want to attend one of the most amazing events ever, NOAC is definitely where you want to be. Only so many slots are available, so GET SIGNED UP NOW!!
