A Writer's Guide to Negotiating the Electronic World:
NWU legal advisor and e-rights specialist Harry Youtt led a lively four-hour presentation and discussion of new opportunities for writers, as well as the common problem of losing your electronic rights forever (to publishers' new "all-rights" contracts and other dangers).

Negotiating Killer Contracts: Steering committee members Christina Farnsworth and Nancy Hand led a four-hour workshop on contract negotiations at the University of Arizona's Writing Works program.

Tasini and Kingsolver on writers' rights: NWU president Jonathan Tasini and National Executive Board member Barbara Kingsolver led a lively discussion of the pressures that writers face from greedy, over-leveraged conglomerates and steps writers can take to protect their rights.

How to Find and Negotiate with an Agent: This four-hour workshop by Jack Handler, JD covered a wide range of writers' issues in dealing with agents, agent firms, and the daunting business of publishing a book without the assistance of an agent.

Writers' meeting in Phoenix: Members from Phoenix and Prescott met with two steering committee members at a Phoenix restaurant. The group had lunch, got to know each other and talked about ways to build more support and events for Arizona writers.
