NEWSLETTERS December 2005 - Volume 4 Greetings! Winter is finally upon us and so are our holidays. The Chapter celebrated its one year anniversary on December 7th and Helene will be hosting our First Anniversary Celebration at her home on January 21, 2006. It has been a great year despite some setbacks with health issues for our Chapter. 2006 will be a better year - amazing what our diversified religious backgrounds can do with prayer and positive thoughts and energy. 2006 New Members: Donjia – Elaine’s mom, Dorothy- Elaine’s grandmother, Mandi – Elaine’s friend, Sherry – Sharon’s friend, Linda & Loretta – Kathleen’s friends. We look forward to meeting all these lovely ladies. We are always open to new ideas and suggestions for future events. You are more than welcome to meet in small groups for breakfasts, lunch, shopping excursions….just remember 2 things – Always let the Queen know and that you take the Mandatory photos!!! Speaking of MANDATORY: Beginning in January whoever does not wear their colors or hat will have to wear a red or purple bra and/or thong on their heads. If you refuse you will be asked to leave. You will also be fined each time you don’t wear the colors. All monies will go to the Adopt-A-Family fund. DUES are MANDATORY and MUST be paid at the January meeting. All members should be present in January!!! Please bring your $20 cash or check…no excuses…we are still waiting for members to pay for this year and it is unfair to those who paid ASAP so that we could provide a Joyful Holiday for the family which was assigned to us. For ladies who only come a few times a year the dues will be adjusted, you must speak with me directly. If for some reason you are unable to pay the dues, please contact me privately before January’s event. “Queen For A Day”: A member chooses a month to host the activity for the Chapter. She is responsible for the planning & execution of the event, including collection of fees, invitations, follow up calls, and reservations (if applicable). NO SUNDAY EVENTS! We need everyone’s participation... So if you haven’t signed up, please do so today! Remember 2006 we need those who have not participated to pick a month or you will be assigned one! Pair up with another member and host an activity! Monthly gatherings are still the 3rd Saturday of the month. CHAPTER & RHS EVENTS Regalia MUST be worn to all events October: Red Hat Sister Hoot – Queen For a Day – Grand High Lady Poohba Billie A spectacular time had by Pink & Red Hatters alike. Billie’s Chapter - Rose Chapeaux Chapter teamed up with OOPPPS for a fun filled day of getting acquainted, crafts, games, goodie bags & door prizes and let’s not forget the yummy desserts. It was such a success that we hope Billie will do it again in 2006! October/November: Sewing Project - Lady Elaine Thanks to our Queen For A Day, Elaine and her great efforts, our crafty members met 3 times in Oct/Nov to make bunnies & bears for needy children for the holidays. A total of 54 toys were donated, 45 of which were hand made by members. A special bear was made for Sister MT by Kathleen and presented to her along with all the toys by Helene on December 1st. Next year, the project will get a head start during those hot summer months. November – Dog Show – Pima County Fairgrounds. The dog show was great in that we are all animal lovers but it was a nerve wracking experience when Nancy showed up very late after having been in a bad car accident. She will be contacting us to get together to shop and wrap gifts for our family. We have been assigned a young Hispanic couple with 4 year old twins (boy & girl). The children are special needs and we hope that we can provide the appropriate toys that they need along with some goodies for the parents as well. If you wish to participate in the gift buying, wrapping and delivery, please call Helene ASAP at home or work. SAVE THE DATE: January Anniversary Bash: High Tea hosted by Her Royal Pugnificence Olympia Jewell and Our WebMistress. Formal attire with gloves and hats a MUST. QUEENS CORNER As I type this I think about all the wonderful women that comprise our Chapter. I have been very fortunate that you joined, because without each of you, OOPPPs wouldn’t be so much fun. Each of you brings something unique to our Chapter. Everyone is different and that is what makes us so very very special and caring. I hope this coming year we gather more frequently in homes so that we can get better acquainted and solidify our friendship and sisterhood. Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones Especially the ones with fur, feathers & fins!!! September 2005 – Volume 3 Greetings! I hope you are all having a great summer thus far.
