Maricopa, AZ - Cub Scouting wants you! Now is the time to join the fun and excitement of America's foremost youth program for boys-Cub Scouting. Designed for boys ages 7 thru 10, Cub Scouting combines outdoor activities, sports, academics, and more in a fun and exciting program that helps families teach ideals such as honesty, good citizenship, and respect. The Boy Scouts of America is composed of more than 1.27 million volunteers working together for the sole purpose of helping its more than 3 million youth succeed in life. Our Fall Car Wash Fundraiser will be on Saturday, November 7th from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. at Auto Zone. Volunteers are needed for two shifts (7:45 a.m.-10 a.m. & 10 a.m.-12:15). Please contact Becky Whitworth at crazywhitworth@hotmail.com to let her know which shift you will be able to help at.

Phoenix Coyotes and the Grand Canyon Council invite you to their annual Scout Night on November 14th when they take on division rivals, the Dallas Stars. All scouts in attendance will have an opportunity to step onto NHL ice and take a slap shot on net where Ilya Bryzgalov just finished defencing.

Detailed information on this event was e-mailed to everyone. If you are intestested in attending, the RSVP & Payment is due to Lisa Hahn by Monday, November 2nd.

On Sunday, Oct. 25th Pack 997 held our 3rd Annual Family Picnic & Halloween Costume Contest. This years picnic proved to be another great one! We had over 100 people enjoying the beautiful weather near the lake in Pacana Park. Cub Scouts and their siblings dressed in their Halloween costumes to participate in the costume contest. Afterwards the kids changed out of their costumes and enjoyed playing at the park and in the bouncy house that was generously donated by Michelle Mackillop from Jiggy's Fun Stuff (thanks Michelle!).

Hamburgers, hotdogs, salads and dessert was prepared and served. A special thanks to Bill Whitworth, Sean Handwerk, Shawne Lange, Millie Montes & Becky Whitworth for cooking and helping to serve the food!!!! Also, thanks to all the dens for providing their side dishes, all the food was great!
