Welcome to the Wildest Club in Town!
The Wildest Club in Town, founded in 1972, is the Zoo's major volunteer group for working professionals. Members are largely white-collar lovers of wildlife and nature, whose ages range from mid-20s to mid-50s. The Club is an even mix of men and women. Some members are sponsored by their companies as a community service gesture. Most, however, are individuals who simply enjoy getting together and working on behalf of the Phoenix Zoo.
Our activities run the gamut from digging-mucking-building-raising exhibits to sponsoring-producing ZooBrew, one of the zoo's most successful fundraising events. Because we mostly have "real jobs" our projects are clustered on weekends. We also gather monthly for an evening feeding, where Zoo staff and other experts from the natural world share their experience and vision with our herd.
No special talent is needed to become a Wild One – only a love for nature, the desire to make a difference, and your commitment to volunteer at least 50 hours yearly in service to the Phoenix Zoo. For more fodder about this Wildest of Clubs, please call the WCIT Hotline at (602) 286-3801. |
