WHAT IS WILDFIRE MITIGATION?

Simply stated wildfire mitigation is the effort to lessen the impact of a wildfire disaster on human life, pets or livestock, personal property, communities and their economy. Mitigation is defined by FEMA as "sustained action that reduces or eliminates long-term risk to people and property from natural hazards and their effects." It describes the ongoing effort at the Federal, State, local, and individual levels to lessen the impact of disasters upon our families, homes, communities and economy.

A vital part of mitigation is reducing the disaster risks by planning between local residents, local government, federal government and businesses. Thinning and cutting trees on your property is IMPORTANT, but that is only a small part of preparing for a wildfire disaster. For example, if you have fire wise landscaping and your homes burns in a wildfire, what do you do next? Don't wait until you are faced with a natural disaster before your prepare yourself and your family!

Our dedicated staff at "Wildfire Recovery Assistance" have set up clear steps to help citizens and communities prepare for a wildfire disaster. Our step by step training can make the difference!
