Prudence Jackson, President

As a word processing supervisor at one of the largest law firms in the United States, Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, I have been fortunate to know some of the best attorneys anywhere in the world.

In 2003 there were no nonprofits specifically to help people who have adenoid cystic carcinoma.  Thanks to the kindness of one of those attorneys, K. Michael Garrett, Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma Organization International was formed.  Having been diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma myself, and finding that others with adenoid cystic carcinoma had nowhere to find information about this rare cancer, how it is treated and what hospitals are most familiar with it, I was thankful that I could change that for adenoid cystic carcinoma patients worldwide.

Brett Card, Vice President

I have spent the last 20 years in business analysis, management, process improvement and programming; primarily in the manufacturing arena.

Prudence invited me to get involved with her group and it has helped me better understand what people who have this rare cancer must deal with.  Because ACC is a rare cancer, research for the more common cancers may have no benefit for ACC.  In reading the experiences of the members of ACCOI’s free email information group, I am inspired by their strength.  In seeing the donations for ACC research, my hope is strengthened that someday their may be a cure for this cancer.

Rod Rose, Treasurer

I am professional with 30 years in the business world working for Pitney Bowes and Xerox.   My career path has exposed me to all facets of business management and a variety of working professionals in all walks of life.

One person I met in my career that changed my life forever is Prudence Jackson.   Through our friendship I learned of the need for a volunteer to work with ACCOI as the Treasurer processing the donations and receipts from the many donors to the organization.  I was offered the challenge and accepted.   My life is affected each time I open the letters and read the many notes that people include with their donations.   I am truly touched by the stories and comments.  Being a volunteer with ACCOI is truly the one organization which has changed my life the most, and I look forward to the research finding a cure for ACC.
