Melanie J.
Cronin of Barrington, Rhode Island lost her battle with ACC
on February 21, 2005 at just 30 years old. On
Saturday April 1st, 2006 her family held a Caribbean themed luau in honor of
her brave, courageous fight & to also raise money for ACC research.
Melanie's family and closest friends gathered together in their Hawaiian garb
to celebrate life "Melanie Cronin style". The Jon Frattasio Band
along with saxophonist & friend Tony Q., volunteered their time &
talent to Melanie's event. Outstanding raffle prizes were given away throughout
the evening including a trip for 2 to Florida, a new Apple iPod and
gift certificates galore!
The
fundraiser drew a crowd of 160+ people who danced, laughed and shared memories
of Melanie. The Luau was able to raise close to $5,000
being donated to the ACC Research Fund at the University of Virginia.
Thanks to all
who made it happen...Melanie would be so proud!
