Info On Kookaburras ![]() A Beautiful Kookaburra
Kookaburras live all over Australia, including Tasmania.
Kookaburraa "shoot" themselves from a perch to pounce on their prey. They enjoy eating most ot the ground-living insects, as well as mice, lizards, fish, and snakes.
Kookaburras form community groups in which together they share and defend their home territory. They mark this territory with their calls, but will also defend it from other bird species. These groups have a dominate mating pair and other less "important" members. Kookaburras do not build nests. Instead, they use existing cavities in trees or sometimes in a tree-termite mound. ![]() A Laughing Kookaburra |
