![]() The San Diego AVER Chapter is a local chapter of the American Veterans for Equal Rights (AVER). We are a veterans' social group, and veterans' advocacy group. We assist active duty personnel whenever possible: with advice, legal referrals, personal support, and just plain comradeship.
The San Diego AVER Chapter participates in numerous events thoughout the year to include the County of San Diego Veterans Day parade each year.
AVER chapters fight anti-gay discrimination in the Armed Forces. We speak to student groups, church groups, other veteran organizations, the press, and other gay organizations.
The San Diego AVER Chapter regularly conducts general meetings on the 2nd Wednesday of every month (unless the date falls on a holiday, in which case the meeting is moved to the 3rd Wednesday). See our calendar at the left for meeting dates and times. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

DOCUMENTING COURAGE ![]()
![]()
The Human Rights Campaign is proud to join with the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN) and American Veterans for Equal Rights (AVER) in recognizing the contributions of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender veterans through our project Documenting Courage: Veterans Speak Out.
As a key component of the Documenting Courage project, HRC, SLDN and AVER are collecting stories to educate members of Congress, the administration and the public on the tremendous contributions GLBT veterans have made to the U.S. armed forces. THE GAY MILITARY TIMES |
VETERAN TRIBUTE It's the soldier, not the reporter who has given us freedom of the press.
It's the airman, not the campus organizer who has given us freedom to demonstrate.
It's the sailor, not the lawyer who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It's the marine that allows the protester to burn the flag.
It's each and every veteran who salutes the flag, serves under the flag, and who's coffin is drapped by the flag.
The battle of our flag has been won time and time again, yet we still fight, we fight as a testimony that Old Glory may fade a tad or two, however, the RED, WHITE and BLUE, will never run!
