Welcome to Bay School's website.
Bay School now offers a preschool program that operates until 2:30 each day in additional to our 9AM to Noon program.
We currently have space in both of these programs. If you wish to enquire, please email by selecting this link.
A summer program orientation meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 10th, from 6 to 8 PM.
Following the two-week break which begins after Friday, June 12th, our summer program will begin on Monday, June 29th and end on Friday, July 31st. We will then take a one week break and return for the fall session on Monday, August 10th.
I am Bay School's Director, Jerry Speraw, known to the children as Mr. Jerry (the photo is 15 years old, so my hair is a little more grey).
Bay School is a parent co-operative pre-school program sponsored by the Carmel Unified School District (CUSD) Adult Education Department.
We provide a developmental pre-school program from 9AM to Noon, Monday through Friday, for children from 2.9 to 5.9 years of age whose parents are enrolled in the Parent Education course offered each semester of the CUSD school year.
Parents participate in their child(ren)'s education by serving as teacher aides one day a week, by attending two (2) two-hour evening parent education meetings and two (2) one-hour after-school meetings per month, and by working an additional 6 hours each month in support of the program.
Bay School operates at the original site and in a modified replica of one of Monterey County's oldest one-room schoolhouses, established in 1879, just north of Monastery Beach on Highway 1, south of Carmel. In its 53rd year of operation as a parent co-op preschool, Bay School is a well-recognized and fondly-regarded local institution.
