  • Program Philosophy and Description
Bay School follows a developmental approach to preschool education. The goal of the program is to meet the developmental needs of each child and parent enrolled in the program. We provide a healthy, safe, and nurturing environment by offering developmentally appropriate preschool activities designed to address the goals and objectives of the State of California's Desired Results program. Our program uses a literature-based theme approach utilizing child-directed activity centers and is designed to develop each child's self-esteem, confidence, and sense of competence, and to foster a love of learning. We accomplish our goal by educating parents and encouraging parents to become active participants in their child's education.

While attending, children are encouraged to partipate in activities at their own level of comfort. We respect each child's individual interests and rate of development.

Each child's time is spent at Bay School selecting and engaging in activites that promote cognitive, language, creative, physical, and social-emotional development. We practice hands-on learning in which the children explore their learning environment with director/parent assistance.

Daily center activities offered include the following:

    • Animal Care
    • Creative Art
    • Cooking
    • Dramatic Play
    • Literature
    • Manipulatives
    • Math and Science
    • Music and Movement
    • Snack
    • Outdoor Group Play
    • Writing and Literacy

    Daily Schedule
We offer one session of preschool beginning at 9 AM and ending at Noon, Monday through Friday. Your child may attend any number of days each week that you determine best suits your child. The tuition and parent work responsibilities will remain the same regardless of the number of days your child attends.

    Nutrition/Snack
Snack is offered once daily, and is served in a family-style dining arrangement. We serve well-balanced, organic snacks to each child. Each family pays a $15.00 per month snack fee, collected quarterly in advance, for each of their children enrolled. Parents may be required to shop on a rotating basis to maintain a supply of healthy snacks. Periodically, the children are invited to participate in preparing snack.

    Parent Duties
In order to maintain a quality morning preschool educational program with a monthly tuition of $100.00, each parent is required to 1) assist one day per week per child enrolled and 2) work an additional 6 hours per month in support of the program through other activities. These activities can include weekend & holiday animal care, classroom and site maintenance and improvement, curriculum development, fundraising, and participation in other organizational projects.

In addition, parents are required to attend 6 hours of parent education meetings, divided into 2 or 3 evening meetings each month. During these meetings, topics related to child growth and development are discussed, along with strategies to implement at home and school to enhance children's development.

    Summary of Fees

    • Annual Registration Fee: $25.00
