REFLECTIONS

The National PTA Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program for students. The Reflections Program provides opportunities for students to express themselves creatively and to receive positive recognition for original works of art inspired by a pre-selected theme, while increasing community awareness on the importance of the arts in education.

Participation and appreciation for the arts is the Reflections Program's goal. Although the Reflections Program follows a "contest" format, winning should not be the emphasis.

Participation in the Reflections Program is a great way for students to explore and learn about various art forms. Creating art is a valuable learning process that challenges students to use their critical thinking skills as well as their creative talents to create art that supports a specific theme.

Students may submit an entry in any of the six arts areas listed below. Only original works of art are accepted. Depending on local PTA guidelines, students may enter more than one work of art. The six arts areas are as follows:

* Literature
* Musical composition

* Photography
* Visual arts
* Dance Choreography
* Film/Video Production

FALL FUNDRAISER

The Fall Fundraiser Catalog Sale products will be arriving November 19th. Pick up will be after school 2:15pm - 7pm. ALL ITEMS MUST BE PICKED UP ON THIS DATE - The PTA has no secure place to store the items.

Volunteers are needed to help sort and distribute orders. Please contact Kathy Bleak at 805-737-1505 if you can help.

FAMILY CRAFT NIGHT

The PTA will be holding a FREE Family Craft Night on December 2nd from 6:00 pm - 7:30pm at Buena Vista.

This is a fun filled FREE event for the whole family. Arrive and leave when it is convenient for you.

Volunteers are needed to help. You don't need to be crafty, the PTA will supply everything you need to help. If you have a craft idea that you would like to share please let us know!

Donataions of supplies are needed such as: popsicle sticks, yarn, etc...., plain sugar cookies for decorating, icing, sprinkles, cocoa and baked goods for refreshments.

PTA MEMBERSHIP

If you have not yet turned in your Membership Form, it is not too late to do so. Members are needed to make the voice of the PTA loud and strong. Did you know that the PTA is the LARGEST NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT ADVOCATES ON BEHALF OF ALL CHILDREN??? The PTA is non partisan, non secterian, and non commercial. The PTA works hard to promote strong family and school relationships, advoacte to the local, state, and national government on issues relating to education, children's health and safety. Your membership counts! Please take a moment to lend your name to this wonderful organization. You do not need to be able to attend the PTA meetings to be a member.
