Aye, and may there be a generation of children on the children of your children.

"People will not look forward to posterity who never look backward to their ancestors." -Edmund Burke

Who so ever asks me of my birth...
I will tell them I am born of Irish Princes who ruled in Thomond a thousand years ago; that I am descended from the High Kings of Ireland, and my name is from the Clann MacMathghamha!
I am MACMAHON

MacMahon Castle

In September 1998, I was honoured to become the Chief of our Clann since its re-formation in the early 1980s,the trials and tribulations of our past generations have helped to shape the people we are today. The story of all our families begins with one man - Mahon O'Brien" Prince of Thomond. Being of direct descent from Mahon O'Brien, we are all equally entitled to be honoured, as I have been by the Clann, as we are all distantly related.

When our Clann was re-formed its chief objectives were to educate those who share our family name in their history and heritage and to encourage them to visit the land of their ancestors. This work laid the foundations for our Clann and with each new member it has been enhanced and enriched beyond anyone's wildest dreams. Clann MacMahon is known as one of the most successful and progressive of today's Irish Clanns, which is a fine compliment to the enthusiasm of it's members.

Thanks to our website we can reach out to our lost families, help them with their research and keep them up to date with family news. Through our secure website, which is only available to members of the Clann, we can ensure that we are up to date with new information and history coming to light due to the tireless work of our member researchers all over the world.

By bearing the name of "MacMahon (McMahon)," we are marked as members of an old family with a clearly identifiable history and character. Because of the wide migration of Irish, we, MacMahons (McMahons), have become a worldwide family, Irish by origin and Irish by conscious choice; a family of members who, despite their diversity, view themselves as one; and proudly call themselves "MacMahons (McMahons)."

As Chief of this ancient clan, it falls to me to articulate the hopes and aspirations of the Family of MacMahon (McMahon).
We, MacMahons (McMahons), hope that in our lives, both personally and corporately as a clan, we will uphold the best traditions of Clan MacMahon (McMahon) in its long commitment to civilization at its finest;
We hope that our Clan, as a whole, and each member thereof, will be blessed with prosperity and good fortune.

We hope that our clan association will grow and that they will be successful; and that they will do great good for the Clan and others. We hope for the continued successful preservation of Carrigaholt Castle. We look forward to the day when the preservation of Castle Carrigaholt will become a reality. We hope for the development of a clan center for Clan MacMahon (McMahon); the creation of a fitting memorial to the departed members of our Clan; and the publication of an up-to-date, scholarly, and reasonably comprehensive history of the MacMahons (McMahons).

As Chief, I challenge all members of Clan MacMahon (McMahon) to show their loyalty by actively supporting the Clan in its important work of preserving the MacMahon (McMahon) heritage; and thus providing meaningful and effective continuity between past, present, and future generations of MacMahons (McMahons).

I will call upon every MacMahon (McMahon) in the world to actively and generously support the Family which gave them their name and identity. MacMahons (McMahons), you owe it to yourselves and to those who came before you; but, most of all, you owe it to your children and those who will come after you. It is a privilege to be an MacMahon (McMahon); and to be part of an ancient Royal and Noble family, rooted in Ireland, which gave you life and which adds special meaning to your life; and which, in turn, depends upon your efforts to make it the best it can become.
