Who We Are Cypress Communicators, Toastmasters International Club 6245, has been teaching communication and leadership skills to men and women in North Orange County and Eastern Los Angeles County, California, since 1986. Visit our club and experience the benefits of Toastmasters.

July 1, 6:30pm Meeting theme: RATED Z FOR ZIP Word of the day: pandemic • \pan-‘de-mik\ • adjective: occurring over a wide geographic area and affecting an exceptionally high proportion of the population. Example: Traffic death and injury is a global pandemic in which more than 1.2 million lives are lost annually.
July 8, 6:30pm Meeting theme: SOAPY SMITH PARTY Word of the day: filibuster • \fil’i bus’t&r\ • noun: the making of long speeches, introduction of irrelevant issues, etc. in order to obstruct the passage of a bill in the Senate. Example: Bush faced the prospect of a Democratic filibuster in the Senate to block his nomination to the Supreme Court.
July 15, 6:30pm Meeting theme: NATIONAL TAPIOCA PUDDING DAY Word of the day: conclave • \kän’klâv’\ • noun: a meeting, conference, or convention, usually held in secret. Example: In Rome, there was recently a conclave of the cardinals to discuss the problems that currently face the church.
July 22, 6:30pm Meeting theme: PI APPROXIMATION DAY Word of the day: frugalista • noun: person who leads a frugal lifestyle, but stays fashionable and healthy by swapping clothes, buying second-hand, growing backyard produce, etc. Example: Black Friday was really sad this year when a mob of frugalistas trampled a guy to death just to save a few dollars on Christmas shopping.

August 5, 6:30pm Meeting theme: NATIONAL MUSTARD DAY Word of the day: toxic debt • noun: mainly sub-prime debts that are now proving so disastrous to banks—they were parceled up and sent around the global financial system like toxic waste, hence the allusion. Example: UBS has shown that banks can get rid of their toxic debt without the help of taxpayers.
August 12, 6:30pm Meeting theme: CALLING ELVIS Word of the day: google • \’gü-g&l\ • verb: to use a search engine to obtain information about (as a person) on the World Wide Web. Example: When Mike googled the name of his new girlfriend, he found out she belonged to a group that advocated banning the Harry Potter series from the library.
August 19, 6:30pm Meeting theme: GREAT BIRD OF THE GALAXY Word of the day: gesticulate • \je-‘sti-ky&-,lât\ • verb: to make gestures especially while speaking, as for emphasis. Example: The choking patron gesticulated wildly to the waiter, who recognized the diner's distress and proceeded to perform the Heimlich maneuver.

To join we need a completed application and membership dues. Your investment is $36 every 6 months, plus a one-time fee of $21.75 when you join.
