LNG: A BRIDGE TO NOWHERE

Does a multi-national corporation get to build 3 Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) facilities and 600 miles of pipelines through Oregon* to feed the energy habits of Californians? Do Oregonians have the right to say "No" to this environmentally devastating project?

Why are farmers, landowners, legislators, and environmentalists coming together in a rare show of unity to protest the LNG project? What are the property rights, safety and security hazards that have them deeply concerned? And how does this affect you?

Find out in this documentary about the Feb 6, 2008 protest at the State Capitol in Salem, Oregon. Speakers include:
Bill Bradbury, Oregon Secretary of State;
Steve Novick, Environmental lawyer & Senatorial candidate;
Jeff Merkley, Oregon House Speaker
Eric Stachon, 1,000 Friends of Oregon
Jody McCaffree of the Southern Oregon Pipeline Information Project

A FORCE MORE POWERFUL

A Force More Powerful, a three-hour documentary series, explores one of the 20th century's most important but least-understood stories - how nonviolent power has overcome oppression and authoritarian rule all over the world. Narrated by Ben Kingsley, and nominated for an Emmy, it premiered on PBS in September 2000.

Bringing Down A Dictator, a one-hour followup documentary, tells the inside story of how Milosevic was brought down - not by smoke and flames, but by a courageous campaign of political defiance and massive civil disobedience. Winner of a Peabody Award, the film was narrated by Martin Sheen and premiered on PBS in March 2002.

For more information or to purchase a video check out aforcemorepowerful.org. You will notice that there is a link for their study guide. I would like to suggest that this might be valuable to pass on to any teachers or groups who may be interested in further discussions or projects.

There is also a game available on the "A Force More Powerful" website -
A Force More Powerful – the Game of Nonviolent Strategy is the first and only interactive teaching tool in the field of nonviolent conflict. Developed by The International Center on Nonviolent Conflict (ICNC), media firm York Zimmerman Inc. and game designers at BreakAway Ltd., the game is built on nonviolent strategies and tactics used successfully in conflicts around the world.
