We are the Dragon den!
Webelos 1 is the first year of a two-year transition program from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. The word Webelos stands for "We'll Be Loyal Scouts."
The boy becomes a Webelos Scout upon graduation from the Bear program in the summer following third grade. He has the rest of the summer to get started on Webelos activities. Boys new to Cub Scouting can become Webelos if they have completed third grade and have earned the Bobcat badge.
Instead of working on electives, each Webelos Scout works to complete a series of hobby and career Activity Badges. The emphasis shifts from home-centered activities to a series of group-centered activities conducted by the Webelos den.
The Webelos program has TWO MAJOR MILESTONES: the Webelos rank badge to be earned around February of fourth grade and the Arrow of Light award to be earned around February of fifth grade. The final part of Webelos is bridging over into a Boy Scout troop, which we do as part of our Blue & Gold Banquet in February of our second year of Webelos.
Our Den Leaders are Keith Campbell and Joe Concialdi. Our den meetings are the first and third Thursdays of the month.
