Divas 'n Diamonds:
We are all proud members of the "Crown Jewels of Canada Society" - a National Non-Profit social club for Canadian women.

Divas:
Eat dessert first.
Aspire to laugh lots and grow old playfully.
Are proof that there is life after wrinkles.
Embrace the freedom brought with age.
Practice being audacious older women.
Are not for the faint of heart.
Feel challenged to live the second half of life outrageously

We are ladies who're young at heart, full of spirit and want to meet other women and share some wonderful times living life to the max because "Life is not a dress rehearsal!"

Our chapter began with members of the "Newcomers Club." We had 29 ladies at our opening "Tea" in December 2004 and of those 27 joined that day. We at one time were up to 50 members but it was too large a group to get to know each other. We now limit our membership to 24 ladies. This way each member gets to be "Queen for the Month" at least once every two years. (In other words it's their responsibility to plan the activity for "their" month.) We enjoy sharing the work/responsibilities of the chapter.
Membership priority is given to friends of current members.
Although we began as a chapter of the Red Hat Society we are now members of the Crown Jewels of Canada Society and embrace it with joy.
Our members wear red, white and/or purple to all events (in any combination) and "something" on their head
Our chapter is presently open to new members. A prospective member may attend up to three events before applying for membership

THE DIVAS decided that "DIAMONDS" are a girls best friend, therefore when we joined the CROWN JEWELS OF CANADA SOCIETY we changed our name to DIVAS 'n DIAMONDS.

We are a bunch of silly, fun-loving women who have given themselves permission to be eccentric and outrageous in public. We love to play dress up and delight in shenanigans and tomfoolery - in our purple outfits and red hats, or course! We consider ourselves royalty and as such adopt titles for ourselves such as Princess this & Countess that. This adds an element of fun to aging, which we think is invaluable to women in our society who have learned to dread aging and avoid it at all costs. We want to make aging become something anticipated with excitement, not something to dread. Women of all ages are welcome to join us.

We have lots of silly traditions (some involve playing kazoos and bubble blowing), a chapter anthem (Do Your Boobs Hang Low), Swearing-In Ceremonies where newbies are sworn in to the sisterhood and appointed their royal titles by our exalted Queen (from her Royal Throne, of course); and our giggle-fits are known to last for hours!

The outfits of the sisterhood run the gamut and usually reflect the personality of the person inside. Wearing the designated colors is the only thing set in stone. You will see many women in feather boas, some with birdcages upon their head (red, of course), and hats with cartoon characters on them, but they may be seated right next to another in a plain red baseball cap and a Red Hat sweatshirt. Another may be wearing a red cowboy hat, while another has a huge over-the-top hat with flowers and tulle and jewels, oh my! It's that "anything goes" philosophy that we like. It's about joy, being young at heart, and knowing life (and having fun) can be enjoyed at any age. Our philosophy is that since we had the most girlie-girl fun when we were little playing dress-up in our mommy's high heels, hats and fancy dresses and why can't we do that again? The standard for your outfits is this:

Would I think I look beautiful in this if I were an 8-year-old girl? If the answer is "yes" - then that's what we're wearing!

Anything is possible, all it takes is a little imagination!

WHAT TO WEAR?
Anything as long as it's red, white or purple or a combination of those three colours.

Membership in the CJCS is $5 registration and $5 annually.

DIVAS MEMBERSHIP
When emailing about membership in the Divas chapter please include your name, email address and phone number. Tell us how you heard about us and some background information about yourself and why you would like to be a Diva and what your interests/hobbies are. All members are required to participate in our events and host at least one event per year.
Prospective new members must attend at least two events before they are able to receive an application form. This gives you the opportunity to "check us out" and see if we are a match for you and what you're looking for. Membership is $45.00 per year (payment due in September)and includes insurance and membership in the CJCS.
