Welcome!    JMJ Our Apostolate is dedicated to the improvement of families everywhere under the Mantle of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Please keep us in your prayers.

(site updated 28 June 2003)

Who is the Fascinating Catholic Woman?  The Fascinating Catholic Woman seeks, above all, to worship the Triune God. She does this through frequent assisting at Mass and engaging in prayer, through studying scripture and other instructive writing, and through performing acts of mercy, both corporeal and spiritual.

The Fascinating Catholic Woman honors her husband as the visible head of the family just as the See is the visible head of the Church. She accepts, appreciates, and admires her husband, and helps him to become holier through encouragement and by bringing joy to his life. Those who discern a vocation to marriage but who remain single for the present seek the loving counsel and support of married women (Titus 2) to prepare for sacramental marriage.

If she is blessed with children, the Fascinating Catholic Woman rears them in patient love, modeling for them the cardinal virtues of faith, hope, and charity.

Homemaking rises above the mundane to the spiritual as the Fascinating Catholic Woman realizes that her vocation comes from God, not man. Thus, she does not deny the drudgery inherent in some of her work but knows that activities such as dishwashing and laundry are part of an overall higher calling.

Sounds impossible? Difficult? Yes. Impossible? Not! Many women have achieved these heights! And we are here to support and to love one another. Loving, supportive counsel is vital for the woman today who dares to struggle against the tide of feminism to embrace traditional womanhood.

What is Fascinating Womanhood?
Originally written in the 1960s by Helen Andelin and updated in the early 1990s, Fascinating Womanhood and the companion book for single women, The Fascinating Girl, foster traditional ideas about men, women, and marriage. The books have sold over two million copies and have doubtless been handed from woman to woman in the billions.

The teachings in these books bring happiness and satisfaction to millions of women worldwide. Teachings include the following: Admiring, Accepting, and Appreciating Your Husband; Inner Happiness; Radiant Happiness; The Feminine Nature; The Feminine Appearance; and The Domestic Goddess, among many others.

The books are available at bn.com and many other online booksellers.
How can Fascinating Womanhood help you?
By earnestly applying the teachings of FW, women have improved themselves and their relationships. Single women who ascertain a vocation to marriage find an increase of personal happiness and satisfaction, which makes them more attractive to men. Married women improve their relationships with husbands and with their children. Happy marriages gain a new and deeper happiness, while many unhappy marriages have been rescued from the brink of divorce.

Our MSN Discussion Group
We offer a discussion group on MSN. The group, open to all women but geared toward Catholic women, features semi-structured discussion of Helen Andelin's books Fascinating Womanhood and The Fascinating Girl, prayer intentions, inspiration, homemaking helps, recipes, and most of all, a private place to share the joys and struggles of living life as a woman of traditional values with like-minded individuals.

To join, please either use the form on this page to contact Mrs. B or go to groups.msn.com/fascinatingwomanhoodcatholic and apply for membership there. Please tell us a bit about yourself and why you wish to join the group.
  Scripture to Ponder
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (The power of love)

Joel 2:25 (God can restore your life)

Psalm 37:4-5 (What happens when we commit ourselves to the godly life)

Psalm 139:13-16 (Why you [and every other human being] deserve to be treated with dignity)

Jeremiah 29:11 (God wants you to be happy in this life)

The Good News
Must we change ourselves first? As our Lord and Savior said: "Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thy own eye, and then shalt thou see to cast out the mote from thy brother's eye" (Matthew 7:5). So we only have the right and duty to change ourselves. I don't know about most of you, but I find it hard enough to control my own self, let alone trying to control someone else--particularly my beloved husband!

I can just hear some wives saying, "But you don't understand. *He* is the problem, not me." Are you sure you're 100% innocent, dear one? Or could you be a fallen human being, just like him? Maybe he doesn't work. Will nagging him about being unemployed inspire him to change the situation? He may go out and get a job just to get away from the nagging, but is that how you want it to be between you? Maybe he drinks or eats too much. Will lecturing him about his health help? Instead of lecturing or nagging, you could choose to be a loving, supportive, and joyfully sacrificial wife who accepts her husband unconditionally and at face value. Doing so *may* help and will definitely lessen the tension level in your home.

The Good News? We only have a right to change ourselves. And we can change from this moment forward to better our lives and the lives of those around us.

Through Christ,
Mrs. BJ Dee
