The Hemet Valley Art Association, Inc. was organized on December 16, 1963 with a Charter Membership including Donna Welch, President. The Hemet Valley Art Association held its first General Meeting January 30, 1964 with a balance in the treasury of $10.

Through the patronage of Earl and Kathleen Gilman, a clubroom was made available at Gilman Hot Springs with no cost to the Art Association. Many outstanding members of the community, including the Ramona Pageant and the Chamber of Commerce aided and promoted the progress and development of the Art Association.

The purpose of the organization is to inspire and develop beginning and student artists and to provide opportunities for amature artists to associate with the finest artists our society has to offer

Today, the Hemet Valley Art Association, Inc. is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation with its own Art Gallery, professional art instructors, monthly meetings with art demonstrations, and several fund raising events each year that draw hundreds of people.

The membership continues to grow as the community expands.

Today, the Hemet Valley Art Association, Inc. features well-known artists at their Gallery exhibiting oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, pencil and charcoal, high-tech photography, and scupture and mosiacs.

Because of its commitment to the community and direct assistance to local artists, the Hemet Valley Art Association's dues remain very affordable at $30/year [$20 to add a spouse]. Student membership is $15/year.

SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Each year, high school seniors are invited to submit their art work. Those judged to be the best are given cash scholarships to pursue their career in art.

This has been a very serious effort by the Hemet Valley Art Association to nurture art in young people and provide them with an opportunity to have their work displayed at the Gallery for a full month during the competition.

The Hemet Valley Art Association is very proud of this community effort and sponsors continuous fund raising for this purpose.

If you are interested in giving a donation to this worthwhile cause, please call the Gallery at 951-652-4592
