Words from our 2003 President Dear Members of the Los Gatos Horseman's Association. Last year we had lots of rides, a successful trail trial, several parades, and parties. We also were visited by 12 Hussars from Hungary who participated in the Los Gatos and San Jose parades. All participants enjoyed themselves and hopefully, we all became a little wiser and a little more experienced. A new year full of plans is ahead of us. Those of you who have joined the "procrastinators' club" need to grab your checkbooks and send in the dues for this year's membership. Since we are fortunate to live in this sunshiny state, let's enjoy what we have. There are new trails to ride, new tales to tell, and new friends to meet. Our new program schedule is flexible and open to your suggestions. Please share your thoughts. Today, the mood of the country is somber. Lots of people are worried about their future, their jobs, family and the world's fate.... But look at what we have - sunshine, reasonably good health and friends who do not complain - our horses. They give us their kind servitude, energy, and time willingly (most of the time). They accept us for who we are around them. We riders are special, fortunate people. We have a life that many people envy. Countless times I have heard the comment, "Oh, you're so lucky to have horses. You have something to do to fill your life!" It's true. Blessed are we who can gallop away from the pressures of high tech and mundane daily life. Let's make the most of this year. Let's take that ride on the beach or in the park and prove once again to ourselves that these are some of the choicest experiences life can offer us. With this thought, I wish all of you great Los Gatos Horseman's Association members a very enjoyable year. Sincerely: Your President Ferenc (Frank ) Bakonyi |
