Under the direction of Donna Young, the mission of the Los Robles Children's Choir is to strive for excellence in choral singing by discovering and developing the artistry within each child. As a result of each child's association with the choir, parents can expect him/her to develop:

  • A lifetime appreciation of choral music through musical performance;
  • Musical and vocal skills;
  • Poise, confidence, self-discipline, and team skills;
  • Friendships with like-minded children and their parents;
  • True self-esteem based on personal accomplishments.
The Los Robles Children's Choir performs a variety of concerts throughout each season. In addition to presenting its own concerts, the Choir makes frequent appearances with the Los Robles Master Chorale. The Choir has performed major works for choir and orchestra with the New West Symphony at the Civic Arts Plaza and the Oxnard Performing Arts Center as well as with Cantori Domino in Los Angeles. The Amadeus Choir of LRCC performed at the International Children's Choir Festival in Great Britain during the summer of 2003.

The children have sung under the direction of the distinguished Sir David Willcocks. The Choir sings for schools and special community events in and around Ventura County.

Presently, Los Robles Children's Choir consists of three choirs. Children entering the program normally begin in the Bel Canto Choir. When the child's musical skills have developed sufficiently, the student may become a member of the Amadeus Choir. The Camerata Youth Choir is a mixed voice choir for high school students. Repertoire is selected according to each choir's level of skill and encompasses a wide range of musical styles. While singing everything from classical works to folk songs, the choirs learn music of various styles and languages. Rehearsals provide instruction in proper singing technique, music reading, sight-singing, and ear-training.

Los Robles Children's Choir is a non-profit organization funded by individuals, parents, and corporations working in conjunction with the Friends of Los Robles Master Chorale and Moorpark College Community Services.

Weekly rehearsals are held throughout the school year (September-May)at Moorpark College.
