G.T.E.V. D'Oberlandler Inc. is a non profit social-dance organization that strives to preserve and perpetuate the customs, traditions, language, costumes, music and dances. "Welcome to our web site! We meet every Wednesday evening to rehearse dance, share and learn more about the traditions we strive to preserve. Typically, the evening's activities focus on folk dances and various other Bavarian and musical traditions. Some of our dances include are the Holzhacker - the wood cutter the Muhlradl the Miller's dance and the Glockenplattler the Bell dance. We also perform the traditional Ringing of the Cowbells (Glocken) which consist of large and small sets of bells that are musically tuned. A couple of our members also play the Alpenhorn. The Alpenhorn is a wooden horn that is about 12 feet long, straight with a slight curve at the mouth of the horn. It was originally used in the alpine regions to communicate long distances.

While we conduct all business in English, German is often spoken during both instructional and social portions of the evening by the German-speaking members and guests. Recognizing that education is the key to preservation, we enjoy sharing our knowledge of Bavarian and traditions through both public and private performances. We are always looking for people interested in our traditions. If you have the desire and the commitment to participate in our Club,we are looking for loyal and dedicated ladies and gentlemen and talented young people for our club.. Application for membership is open to all people interested in preserving the customs, traditions, costumes, music and dances of the German and Austrian alpine regions. German Day 2005

The G.T.E.V. D'Oberlandler are long time members of "Gauverband Nordamerica" in the United States. The organizations which make up the Gauverband Nordamerika meet annually to share in various social and educational programs, and competitive programs.
