Who we are.                     We are an Advanced Club. A new member should be a "CC" (Competent Communicator), or have equivalent public speaking experience and be voted in by a quorum of the club's members.
Our regular meeting format is a little different than most Toastmasters Clubs. We have the formal speeches first with evaluations. Then, after a break, the more informal table topics session. The following are special features of our club:
1. We usually meet in the Entertainment Room on the second floor of the Atria Community Center at 1 Witherspoon in Irvine at 8:30AM on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Saturday mornings.
2. We allocate time for people to give longer speeches required in the Advanced Manuals.
3. We offer immediate round robin evaluations by club members followed by the formal evaluation. Most members give a written evaluation on our own short form.
4. We can supply help with set up and arrangement of special props, speech enhancements, etc.
5. Saturday two hour meeting time. We are the only advanced club that meets on a Saturday morning.
6. We have two annual meeting events outside the our normal facility. The mid month August meeting is a Picnic BBQ and pot luck along with speeches and table topics. In December, we have a holiday Christmas party at a member's home.

We meet on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Saturdays of every month. Our meetings start at 8:30 AM and end promptly at 10:30 AM.

Where we meet.

We meet at the Atria Community Center at 1 Witherspoon in the City of Irvine. For the upcoming meetings scheduled for 2009, we will meet in the Entertainment Room on the second floor. After you sign in at the front desk, the attendant can direct you to the elevator. Ample parking is available outside. You can hit the "Excite Map" button below for a map.

Visitors are always welcome and there is no charge.

On August 18, 2009, our meeting was our 15th Annual Picnic. We had a regular meeting of Speeches, Evaluations and Table Topics, along with a BBQ hamburgers, chicken, hot dogs and pot luck. We had eight visitors who enjoyed the weather and festivities.

History
The club was formed as Second Stage Toastmasters in December 1988 by leaders in Founders District. We still have three of the original members: Shirley Kunkel, Harvey Mayo and Bill Neal. The club has always been an advanced club and in December 2009 we begin our 22th year.

Thought for the Month

People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can't find them, make them.
-- George Bernard Shaw .

  Manual Speeches
Every time you give a speech at a Toastmasters meeting it should be a manual speech. There are a lot of Toastmaster veterans who have completed many advanced manuals and earned an extra Competent Communicator or an Advanced Communicator award simply by keeping this in mind.
