 Heres To Change ...
A Guide to the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals -
A full guide to the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) can be found on the official OSHA website at http://www.osha.gov.
This new guideline will change the way a company's Safety Plan and HazCom Program will operate, specifically regarding the use of data sheets and various labelling.
These changing times had their genesis at the UN's World Environmental Conference held in Brazil in 1992. Over the last 15 years, many laws around the world have adapted to prepare for the date this system will take hold. The United States has targeted completion for late 2008; this will match the original United Nations mandated completion date. In addition, this will also match the European Union's Reg. #1907-2006 (REACH*) regarding chemical evaluation. |
