The East San Gabriel Valley Coalition for the Homeless is an interfaith coalition of volunteers, incorporated in 1994 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Coalition works with public agencies, private organizations, foundations, and ecumenical groups in the community to serve the needs of the homeless and those at risk of homelessness.

Kenya Rescue Effort

Political unrest in Kenya has reached a critical point and has resulted in ethnic and tribal clashes of catastrophic proportions for the population. The Kenyan Soroptimists are working with the Red Cross and other NGOs to bring immediate relief to the homeless and displaced people—mostly women and children—who have sought refuge in police stations, churches and camps. There are also minority groups living in slums who were unable to leave their homes and who are in a desperate situation.

Founded in 1935, the YWCA San Gabriel Valley has worked at the individual and community levels to achieve our global mission statement: to empower women and girls and to work to eliminate racism, sexism, poverty and violence. The YWCA is committed to providing women and girls with the information they need to manage the critical issues in their lives.
