Goin' Fishin' For Better Nutrition
Find photos or drawings of about 20 different kinds of fish and find out the calorie count for each. Label some with the correct name and others with made-up names. At the meeting, hand out the fish pictures. Members must first determine whether or not it is a real type of fish and then if so, whether it is high or low in calories.

No More Eatsa Lotsa Pizza (Or Other Goodies)
Divide members into small groups. Give each group a piece of paper with about 15 fast food items on them. Then give them a list of numbers (the calorie count for these foods) and have them try and match the calorie content to the actual food. The group that gets the most right wins a small prize.

High-Low Game
This game can use any topic; the example used here is "fatty snacks." Prepare two small stacks of index cards. One set has high-fat items, listed in red. The other set has their low-fat equivalent, listed in black. Distribute the packet of red cards to the members. Put the black cards on the table. Have each member come up and try to find the low-fat partner of the item she has in her hand.

Easter Eggs
Insert a question about nutrition written on a slip of paper into a small plastic easter egg, along with a small token gift. At the meeting, each member picks an egg and opens it. If she can answer the question correctly, she receives the gift. If she doesn't, she passes the egg on to the person beside her and that person gets a chance to answer the question correctly.

Fourth Of July
Take red, white, and blue plastic cups and make a cover over them so that they look like a firecracker. Inside, put a question (about nutrition, exercise, healthy habits, etc.). If member can answer the question in the cup, she receives a small prize.

Jeopardy
Play this just like the game show. Decide on several categories and make a list of questions and answers for each category (for example, food, exercise, healthy habits, and so on). Each question has a "dollar" value - the harder the question, the higher the value. Give each member a clicker or some way to signal that she wants to answer a question. The first player selects a category and dollar amount. The "host" reads the selected answer and whoever signals first has to come up with the appropriate question. If she gets it right, she adds the value of the question to her score - if wrong, the value is subtracted. The person who answers correctly selects the next question, and so on. The one who ends up with the highest score wins a prize. (This works well in teams.)

Win Lose Or Draw
This is based on another game show. You need a blackboard or something to draw pictures on. Members are divided into teams. One person comes up and is given the name of a food or phrase and they have to draw it so that her team can guess what it is. If the team gets it, her team gets a point. The team with the most points at the end wins.

Medical Spot
Bring in several TOPS News magazines. Have members go through them and read a question from the “Medical Spot” section and see if the others can guess the answers. Or, find something inspirational they would like to share with the group.
