![]() Parliamentary procedure are formal rules governing the methods of procedure, discussion and debate in deliberative bodies, organized assemblies and other formal organizations. It is about helping groups come to a decision while respecting the rights of all members. Using parliamentary procedure in your meetings will help keep your meetings short, ensure that the minority's rights are preserved, help you take efficient minutes, and effectively use motions among many other things. Let the Colorado Beta Gaveliers show you how to do so. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Colorado Beta Gaveliers Colorado Beta Gavaliers Unit was chartered November 12, 1970. While we meet at the Englewood Library our members live throughout the Denver Metro area. This is a strong unit with about 20 members. The membership includes active members, provisional members, Registered Parliamentarians and Profesional Registered Parliamentarians. We start with a business meeting which helps us put into practice what we have learned about parliamentary procedure. Following each business meeting, the procedure of the meeting is critiqued by one of the instructors. This constructive analysis aids the Officers, Chairmen and members in learning first hand what is good parliamentary procedure and what wording, action or procedure might have been handled in another way to aid the members in sharpening their skills. After the business meeting is a short social time followed by an instructional lesson. Past lessons have consisted of writing bylaws, making motions, writing concise minutes and reviewing sections of Roberts Rules of Order. Discussions are always lively and very informative.
