Our heritage is a valuable legacy that shows us who we once were, as well as influencing who we are and who we will become. It is the thread that connects our community through thr generations. The legacy of our community is much like a deep well-mementos. Through we may draw repeatedli from this fount of information, it will never go dry. It is our honor, and our obligation, as keepers of this well, to insure the preservation of the past and the documentation of the present. This well is our community scrapbook, our gift our future. It preserves and protects our heritage for all to study, to ponder, and to consume. 		 
The Calhan Historical Society's mission is to gather, perserve, and make available our heritage. It is through our endeavors that the present and future generations will be able to learn about the people and events that shaped our community. As mere caretakers of our community's memories, we cannot change the events that have transpired. We can add our voices to how these eventes are viewed by the generations that follow us. We can ensure that we have done our best to collect and preserve those memories and mementos that are so quickly fading away. Let us honor those who have provided us with such a rich and powerful legacy
