HAPPY 233rd Year America!

HAPPY 232nd Year MARINES! SEMPER FI

Final Salutes

The following websites are worth a look. See what is being said.

WOW, If you thought you had a hard job, know that yours is nothing compaired to Major Steve Beck and the group of Marines at Buckley.
Final Salute page Wow, talk about tough!

The front lines page as told by those that were there.

By: Ken Majeski, USMC Veteran, and Sr. Vice Commandant for the Foothills Det. 469, Department of Colorado, Marine Corps Leauge
Marine tell it like it is page .

This is a site that is told through the mouths of the ones that were there. GREAT --- GREAT site...
Thanks to Lockheed Martin for their generosity to make this site.
From the real heroes page.

Question Answered

Many of you have asked "what is Jonh 15:13" in my signature on my emails. There is no simple answer to that, but if you will read the following articles, they may shed some light on it for you.

From Iraq an unknown American Hero page.

More untold stories of American Heroes page.

From Afghanistan

This is history made in your tifetime. WAY TO GO DOC!...page.

And yet more untold stories of American Heroes page.

In total, 3,464 medals have been awarded with nineteen men being awarded a second Medal of Honor. Three of the nineteen were awarded the medals during peacetime for saving a drowning crewmate. One of the nineteen was awarded his 2 medals for actions during two seperate boiler explosions. Furthermore, 14 of these men received two separate medals for two separate actions, and five received both the Navy and the Army Medals of Honor for the same action. In total, 617 men had their medals presented posthumously.

More food for thought on John 15:13 and why Marines LOVE our Corpsmen!

World War I saw 684 personal awards for the US Navy Hospital Corpsmen. The top three are as follows: 2 Medals of Honor, 55 Navy Crosses (Second only to the MOH) and 237 Silver Stars (Second to the NC) this leaves 390 other personal awards left. The rating of Hospital Corpsman is the most decorated rating in the United States Navy with 22 Medals of Honor, 174 Navy Crosses, 31 Distinguished Service Medals, 946 Silver Stars, and 1,582 Bronze Stars.

A Corpsman's Prayer

Grant me, oh Lord, for the coming events;
Enough knowledge to cope and some plain common sense.
Be at our side on those nightly patrols;
And be merciful judging our vulnerable souls.
Make my hands steady and as sure as a rock;
when the others go down with a wound or in shock.
Let me be close, when they bleed in the mud;
With a tourniquet handy to save precious blood.
Here in the jungle, the enemy near;
Even the corpsman can't offer much lightness and cheer.
Just help me, oh Lord, to save lives when I can;
Because even out there is merit in man.

If It's Your will, make casualties light;
And don't let any die in the murderous night.
These are my friends I'm trying to save;
They are frightened at times, but You know they are brave.
Let me not fail when they need so much;
But to help me serve with a compassionate touch.
Lord, I'm no hero -- my job is to heal;
And I want You to know Just how helpless I feel.
Bring us back safely to camp with dawn; For too many of us are already gone.
Lord bless my friends If that's part of your plan;
And go with us tonight, when we go out again."

Since the Civil War, 1,990 Navy Corpsmen have given their lives for the Sailors and Marines they serve. Since 2001, 34 Hospital Corpsmen have shown a greater love and layed down their lives for their friends.

"Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends". John 15:13.

Other notable verses:
John 10:11 "I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep".
Romans 5:7 "For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die".
Semper Fi Doc!

On our 232nd Birthday, to every Marine - those still in uniform and those who have served honorably in the past - be proud of who you are and what you do. Know that your citizenship dues have been paid in full; you are part of this nation's elite warrior class. Cherish our families who offer marvelous support, abiding resolve, and steadfast patience. Remember those who have served and those who have fallen - their names are chiseled on the roll call of America's heroes. Those who have carried the battle colors of our Corps have forged our heritage, and today's generation of Leathernecks chart our future. Carry the colors with pride; carry them with honor.

4. Happy Birthday, Marines! Semper Fidelis, James T. Conway, General, U.S. Marine Corps, Commandant of the Marine Corps
