Foothills Honor Guard members shared the field with the Color Guard from the El Paso US Border Patrol.
The Foothills Honor Gouard Team is ready to present the cololrs in Left Center Field.
Foothills Honor Guard presents the Colors to the Fans at Coors Field prior to the start of the game against the San Diego Padres. THE ROCKIES DID WIN!!!!
Foothills Honor Guard marches off the field after presenting the colors with the Border Patrol Color Guard in the background.
The Foothills Honor Guard Cadets leave the field lead by Cadet SAmn Greeson.
Oh YES,,,,, The RAIN CAME!!!!! and lasted for about 30 minutes.

Two cadets take their Orientation flights in a CAP Cessna 172 Turbo out of Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport (Jefferson County Airport).

Cadet SAmn Smith takes his FIRST orientation flight in a Cessna 172 Turbo

Cadet Jordan greeson takes another of his FIVE orientaion flights in a Cessna 172 Turbo

The next three pictures are PROOF that the King LIVES!!!!! He was alive and well in Lakewood, Colorado for a 2 hour concert held at the Lakewood Cultural Center. Endre Samu and the Living Vision Band played for 2 hours to a huge crowd on the lawn.
Ironically, Endre was a member of Foothills Compostie Squadron in the 1990's here in Lakewood as a SM. What a small world it is.

Members of Foothills Cadet Squadron escort the KING to the stage to start the concert for the City of Lakewood. l-r front to rear - C/1Lt Alex Wage, C/A1C Nathaniel Smith, Captain Michael Lawson and C/Maj Scott Holley

Those that knew the real Elvis loved the show as my mother in law was thrilled as Elvis serenaded her to a song

The young were also impressed with the King as he drove them wild too!

Canadian Forces LtGen Charlie Bouchard talks with C/CMSgt Doyle (A fellow Canadian)

Cadet Airman Smith gets a few words from General Bouchard after getting promoted at the 29th Annual MOPAR Mile High NHRA Nationals at Bandimere Speedway.

Cadet Airman Basic Christensen gets his first set of stripes put on by General Charlie Bouchard at the base of the Banimere Speedway Tower as the Semi Final round of the Pro Top Fuel cars were running.

Lieutenant General Charlie Bouchard gets his orders signed to take over as Deputy Commander for NORAD in Colorado Springs. l-r U.S. General Gene Renuart, Commander NORAD, LtGen Rick Findley, outgoing Canadian deputy commmander, General Findley's wife Carla and incoming Canadian deputy commander LtGen Charlie Bouchard.
General Bouchard has served in the US in the past when on 11 September 2001 he was deputy commander of the Continental NORAD Region and was standing duty at Tyndall AFB on that non forgetable day in the CONR doing air operations.
Our Nation and that of Canada are in good hands with Lt.Gen Bouchard on duty here.

Civil Air Patrol members from four Colorado Squadrons participated in the 29th Annual Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals by providing 696.5 hours of community service while distributing over 2,000 gallons of water to the record crowd of drag race fans over three days. Members from Foothills, Parker, Thompson Valley and Mustang Cadet Squadrons spent Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening pumping water into cups for the patrons to drink. With the heat of the weekend the members were not only busy with water but the hundreds of heat cases that took place this year. Not only were people were passing out in front of our tent, but because our tent said “RELIEF STATION” on it, people were bringing the cases to us from other areas of the track. With the VOLUNTEER EMS staff from Saint Anthony Hospital only a few hundred feet from us, we were the logical choice and fastest to respond to issues when speed was the essence. All the members of the squadrons performed their duties with distinction and professionalism.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered and gave their time. See you next year.

Billed as the BEST SEAT IN THE STATE for fireworks this year, most members from Foothills Cadet Squadron enjoyed the 4th of July Family Festival at Bandimere. We provided 75.5 manhours of Community Service and did a little recruiting while we were there. From all the kids that we talked to, about 30 were from our area.

Next week Foothills will be at Bandimere for the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals all three days providing over 700 manhours of community service while watching over the handicap area and handing out FREE water to the crowd that is expected to reach into the TENS of THOUSANDS over the weekend...

The reason we were at Bandimere on 4 July. This was Bandemer's Salute to the Military as Foothills Cadets perform the FIRST of TWO Color Guards for a sold out crowd at the JET CAR NATIONALS

Three hours later Foothills Cadets perform the second Color Guard for the sold out STANDING ROOM ONLY Crowd. Yes,,, that is 10PM.... After this presentation, Bandimere whent into the FIREWORKS SHOW performed to LIVE music by the Rocky Mountain Praise Singers and Orchestra. The Cadets did an AWESOME JOB both times. Thank you for a job WELL DONE!!
l-r Cadets CMSgt Reid Doyle, Major Scott Holley, 2dLt Alex Wage and TSgt Cory Goepfert!!!

Foothills Staff tries to settle their differences BANDIMERE STYLE, with a RACE! C/Maj Holley got his point accross by posting three wins in a row. C/CMSgt Doyle came in second and C/2dLt Wage and C/TSgt Geopfert came in 3rd and 4th respectively

C/TSgt Goepfert in a race

Cars. If you don't love em. I can't help you!!!!

OK, so a steady image from BEHIND the jet cars is very hard to do with the heat and wind.

Check out our own C/CMSgt Alex Wage as he leads the Colorado State House of Representatives in the Pledge of Allegiance for the CAP day at the House.

IT WORKS!!!! IT WORKS!!!! I GOT IT!!!!. Cadet SMSgt Wage can be seen from 4:35-5:05

The New Years party is FAST approaching and we need to start getting things in order now. Yes folks, we are already over half way through the year and it feels like just yesterday we were at the Historic Schoolhouse in Lakewood having our BBQ.
SMSgt Wage, I hear you have some new friends at the State Capitol. Can you try to get one of them to come to our dinner party in 2009?

We are also in need of:
A place to have it
Door Prizes
Someone to Cater it
A menu
Speakers
Guests
Invitations
Supplies

Do you want to open it to the Wing this year or just the Squadron again?

Sad, so sad for Lakewood - LAKEWOOD ON PARADE HAS BEEN CANCELLED FOR 2008. Thank you Democrat National Convention!
This would have been our 7th year with the event.

Foothills Cadet Squadron celebrated another year 10 Jan 2008 at the Lakewood Heritage Center's Historic School House. During our annual Awards Banquet, we gave away an 8GB IPod Nano, 1 GB IPod Shuffle and two 1MB digital Key chains. We still have to give away one more of each of those items to Foothills' top three members for their fundraising efforts for this event at our next meeting.

For the last three weeks in October 2007, members of the Army and Air National Guard’s Drug Interdiction Office along with Civil Air Patrol, the Drug Enforcement Administration, Colorado Rapids, US Olympic Team, Ms. Colorado, Ms Teen Colorado and Ms. Denver visited 96 schools across Colorado to spread the message of a drug free life.

The Story Behind the Symbol
Enrique "Kiki" Camarena worked his way through college, served in the Marines and became a police officer. When he decided to join the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, his mother tried to talk him out it. "I can't not do this," he told her. "I'm only one person, but I want to make a difference."

The DEA sent Camarena to work undercover in Mexico investigating a major drug cartel believed to include officers in the Mexican army, police and government. On Feb. 7, 1985, the 37-year-old Camarena left his office to meet his wife for lunch. Five men appeared at the agent's side and shoved him in a car. One month later, Camarena's body was found in a shallow grave. He had been tortured to death.

Today, Red Ribbon Week is nationally recognized and celebrated, helping to preserve Special Agent Camarena’s memory and further the cause for which he gave his life. The Red Ribbon Campaign also became a symbol of support for the DEA’s efforts to reduce demand for drugs through prevention and education programs. By wearing a red ribbon during the last week in October, Americans demonstrate their ardent opposition to drugs.

Laura (l) (Team Handball 1988,1992 and 1996) along with Sarah (Team Volleyball 1992) talk with the kids at a Colorado Springs School. Both were kind enough to take the entire DDR Team to the US Olympic Training Center for lunch that afternoon and give us a tour afterwards. Thank you.

Choper inbound with DEA Special Agent onboard.

BE ADVISED, THE CADETS WERE HERE WITH THEIR PARENTS/GUARDIAN OR THE CADETS WERE 18 OR OVER. THIS WAS NOT A CAP SANCTIONED EVENT AND NO CAP UNIFORMS WERE WORN. THIS WAS A "BY INVITATION ONLY" FROM THE BANDIMERE FAMILY FOR A JOB WELL DONE THIS YEAR!

Well, well, well…… The Bandimere event is behind us now. MAN WAS THAT GREAT!!!!!

Cari Anne Lawson on the Start Line.

The cars await the drivers..

MORE cars await the drivers..

Here are the final results for the winners bracket:
Round One:
Tom Kadolph from the Parker Cadet Squadron lost the first round to Rob Preston also of the Parker Cadet Squadron 15.342/93.30 MPH to 14.945/96.11 MPH
Jon Huntington BEAT his brother Shane Marquardt with a 14.504/98.99MPH (THIS WAS THE TOP SPEED OF THE NIGHT!!!) to 14.465/98.18MPH - Reaction time is what helped decide this - Jon .580 and Shane .920.
Chris Nicholl beat out Angela Baker both of Foothills Cadet Squadron with 14.704/97.57MPH to 14.598/97.63MPH - AGAIN, reaction time won this pairing .399to .843
Cari Anne Lawson Beat out Jeff Baker both from Foothills with a 14.554/98.02MPH to14.698/97.26MPH
Preston Nicholl beat out Michael Lawson both of Foothills with a 14.474/98.65MPH to 14.732/96.99MPH

Round Two results were:
Jon Huntington of Foothills Cadet Squadron lost to Rob Preston of the Parker Cadet Squadron do to a RED LIGHT FOUL! Rob scored an impressive 14.978/97.04MPH
Cari Anne again posted a win, beating out Chris Nicholl both of Foothills with a 14.519/98.66MPH to 14.839/96.43MPH
And Preston Nicholl got a BYE on this round and still posted a smashing time of 14.530/98.60MPH

Round THREE!!!!!!
Rob Preston of Parker was beat out by .265 seconds with a 14.892/96.33MPH to 14.627/97.12MPH
Cari Anne Lawson and Preston Nicholl both of Foothills. This one had BOTH reaction times within .058 seconds of each other. Cari Anne wins with a 14.525/98.28MPH to Preston’s respectable 14.719/97.34MPH

Final ROUND…………….
Reaction times were .104 seconds apart at .263 to .367.
Quarter mile times were a little closer at .102 seconds difference from a 14.676 to 14.778
And the speed weren’t far off either!!!! Just a little over a HALF of mile per hour!!!!!!! 97.64MPH to 97.05MPH
Bottom line, Foothills’ Cari Anne lost to the Boy Scouts‘ Corey!
We will have next year to try again…

In the Consolation Round:
It came down to the Boy Scout and CAP again. This time, Michael Lawson (Cari Anne’s husband) lost to Rob W with a time of 14.850/97.15MPH to 14.602/97.69MPH. Reaction time was the kicker here as well. Lawson’s .498 to .321 wasn’t enough to help offset the difference.

Hopefully everyone had a good time and will be around for next years events. We have an agreement so far with the Boy Scouts to come back and help at even MORE events next year. Larry Crispe the Executive Vice President Operations would also like to see us involved in the overnight security aspect of some of the events. After I told him we did most of the City of Lakewood’s overnight events at the Heritage Center working with the help of Lakewood PD he would like to utilize Foothills by doing more parking and overnight security at Bandimere as well.
Cali of the Boy Scouts also offered a GREAT "pat on the back to CAP" by saying that the water tables “NEVER RAN SMOOTHER than they did with CAP doing it”. WAY TO GO CAP (Foothills, Parker and Mustang!!!!
To the ones who missed tonight, I am sorry, it was a blast. Hopefully next year you can make it. Larry is also trying to get a night together were everyone who helped at the Mile High NAtioanls can get a chance at the Go Cart race track at Bandimere Speedway.

IF YOU “WORKED” AT THE MILE HIGH NATIONALS, you are invited to join us for this evening as well. This is yet another reward…….

Semper Fidelis and see you there next year!
Michael Lawson

On behalf of Foothills and Parker I would like to thank the Bandimere Family for inviting us to your track to do this, it was AWESOME for us "first timers", Thank you, thank you, thank you...
