Precinct committepeople are essential

Our guest speaker Dick Poole, Denver Area Director for Senator Allard, talked about the presidential and Colorado senate races, and emphasized how vital the role of each precinct committeeperson is in helping get the vote out.

Precinct leaders’ training

Pat Bayer, Precinct 931 Committeeperson and former District Captain, described the responsibilities of precinct committeepeople. Pat suggested that you

  • organize your precinct by neighborhoods
  • recruit and train volunteers
  • canvass your precinct to identify all favorable voters and to register new Republicans
  • distribute Republican candidates’ literature and information
  • get Republican voters to the polls on Election Day
  • be the year-round liaison for the Republican Party

That personal touch

Ruth Prendergast, Precinct 913 Committeeperson and former Colorado House District representative, shared her canvassing experience. She emphasized

  • the value in interacting face-to-face with voters
  • the enjoyment you get from getting to know your neighbors
  • the importance of each vote

And cool tools

Andy Anderson, Co-Captain, explained how useful the on-line voter file information is for canvassing, calling, or other things you may do in your precinct. Each precinct committeeperson using the internet will have access to the data.
