The newsletter committee wanted pointers, and I'm the only one they could find. Given my vast experience with walking my precinct, I'll give you a few of my faves.
- follow my mom's lead (I'm a punny guy) and carry doggy and kitty treats
- make a big deal over people's pets (it worked for Senator Allard) and children
- stay off the grass
- dress casually, but not sloppily
- wear comfy shoes (your dogs will thank you)
- walk with at least one other person
- never go inside the residence of someone you don't know
- have plenty of stuff to hand out
- smile--after all, you don't want a reputation for hounding people!
- listen
- smile some more
That's it for now. Happy tails to you!
