The newsletter committee wanted pointers, and I'm the only one they could find. Given my vast experience with walking my precinct, I'll give you a few of my faves.

• follow my mom's lead (I'm a punny guy) and carry doggy and kitty treats
• make a big deal over people's pets (it worked for Senator Allard) and children
• stay off the grass
• dress casually, but not sloppily
• wear comfy shoes (your dogs will thank you)
• walk with at least one other person
• never go inside the residence of someone you don't know
• have plenty of stuff to hand out
• smile--after all, you don't want a reputation for hounding people!
• listen
• smile some more
