It may look quiet and serene at The Eastern Star property on South Quebec St., but inside her patio home, Precinct 918 Committeewoman “Kit” Troyer and her friends are intent on their bi-weekly bridge game. It’s also where husband Dean takes a weekly turn with pinochle. The two have been married 61 years this month. Last year, they celebrated by taking their children and grandchildren to Portland, OR, where they took off for an adventure along the Columbia River, highlighted with a jet boat trip up the Snake River.

Kit used to be a committeewoman in Arapahoe County. She plans to continue her skills by asking a neighbor to join her in canvassing her precinct. She also is active in the Calvary Baptist Church, where she has been chair of its Bereavement Committee for more than 20 years. The group supports friends and families of recently deceased church members.

Bev Henry follows a family tradition of political activity. Bev's mother, a staunch Republican, "went all out for Ronald Reagan." Bev has voted Republican all her life, never missing a vote since turning 18. She is an active member of Denver Republican Women, a long-time election judge, and "does what is possible" to support Republican or conservative events.

No stranger to national conventions, Bev and mom were guests to the 1988 National Convention in New Orleans. In 2004, guest Bev joined delegate Joy Wood in New York City for George W. Bush. Not wanting to miss Senator McCain's party, Bev enjoyed the event, walking the mile "home" at two o'clock in the morning by herself in the big city. Bev was served tea with First Lady Laura Bush in March.

Understanding the importance of this election and the thrill of participation, this gutsy lady eagerly awaits joining the Colorado delegation in St. Paul in September. Bev knows she will be in the company of heroes, including candidate John McCain and his former POW mate, a national delegate from Vail. Bev, a grandmother of five, will be decked out in red, white, and blue to elect John McCain. She is an active believer for the sake of her grandchildren and ours.

Roger Rowland is a long-time Republican, a genealogist, and an area coordinator for Securitas Security Services USA, Inc. The firm provides security mostly to commercial accounts. He has been in this business after a stint in property management, and a few years as Mayor of Sheridan. After that, he notes, I left politics for a while, returning because it s better to be actively informed than observing from the sidelines.

Roger thinks Denver residents will wake up to the world of security when the Democratic National Convention comes to town. We forget Boston and Chicago, he says.

In his spare time, Roger pursues genealogy, and has traveled to Canada to meet with long lost relatives. His co-precinct committee person is Shauna Felton.

Linda Embleton, Precinct #936, enjoys the Colorado Rockies from a bird's eye view perched on the third tier at Coors Field where she's a Guest Relations person. She also works in customer relations at COSTCO, and in her spare time, would like to do more for the GOP.

Andy Anderson was elected co-captain of District 9 at the March 11 meeting. He's previously volunteered as Area Leader and chairman of the District's search committee, which looked for candidates to run for House District 9 Representative.

Anderson was an active volunteer in the Pete Coors, Bob Beauprez and Rick O'Donnell campaigns. He is the executive vice president at ARC Wireless Solutions, Inc.
