Directions to The Silvertree Hotel

Take I-70 to Glenwood Springs. (Glenwood Springs is about 160 miles west of Denver or 85 miles east of Grand Junction.) At Glenwood follow the signs to Hwy 82, which is the main road that runs up the valley to Aspen. Stay on Hwy 82 for about 35 miles to Brush Creek. You will pass the towns of Carbondale, El Jebel, Basalt, and Old Snowmass. (Those driving from New Mexico and Arizona may come up Hwy 133 and intersect Hwy 82 at Carbondale. Turn right on 82 and continue up valley.) At Old Snowmass the road is under construction and narrows from four to two lanes. This continues for 4-5 miles when it goes back to four lanes. Brush Creek Road is the second light after you exit the construction zone, about another 4-5 miles up the road. At Brush Creek you will also see signs for Snowmass Ski Area. Turn right on Brush Creek and follow this for about 6 miles. Be sure to stay on the main road. At 4.8 miles you will go past a gas station on your right and a turnoff to the ski area on you left. Go straight past this intersection for another mile or so. The road will make a "U" turn to the left. Take the first right after the "U" turn (follow the sign to "Convention Center"). After 150 feet the road turns to the right on to Upper Snow Melt Road. Take the first immediate left onto Elbert Lane, go straight about 100 yards and it dead ends at The Silvertree Hotel.

Parking:

The easiest thing is to use valet parking but if you want to save a few bucks there are scattered handicapped parking spaces if you know where to go. Across from Elbert Lane where you turned into to the hotel, there are two handicapped spaces and two short-term parking spaces that can be used. There are also several handicapped spaces in a parking lot one level down. To get there from the hotel go back out to Brush Creek Road, turn right and drive around the buss stop. The road then turns left on a fairly steep road (Lower Snow Melt Road). Take the first left into Parking Lot 6. Drive around until you are on the lower section and almost back onto Snow Melt Road. The handicapped parking will be on your right. If you go straight across Snow Melt Road from Lot 6 to Daly Lane, there is also one spot, about 20 feet in, on the right hand side, tucked under the overhang, just to the right of the buss garage door. If you go to the end of Daly Lane there are also several handicapped spots on the right. These are primarily for skiers but could be used for overnight parking.

To get back to the Silvertree after parking in these lower lots, go back to the bus garage entrance; there is an elevator to the left. Take the elevator to the either the "M" or 4th floor. If "M", go out the elevator and bear left through the mall until almost to the ski slope. Stay right and go under the covered walkway and there will be double doors. This is the bottom floor of The Silvertree and the elevators are just inside. If you exit the 4th floor, take the walkway past Challenge Aspen and the General Store until it comes out at Elbert Lane. Go left until you dead end at The Silvertree.

Directions to the Aspen Recreation Center (ARC)

We will have directions from the hotel to the ARC when you check in. For those running a little late and driving straight to the rink, refer to the directions above to Brush Creek Road. Instead of turning onto Brush Creek continue straight on Hwy 82. Go another 4 miles or so, past the airport and Buttermilk Ski Area, until you come to a roundabout at mile marker 39.8. At the roundabout take the first exit to Maroon Creek Road. Go about 1 mile and you will see the Aspen Recreation Center on your right. Parking will be up toward the building. Once inside, go past the climbing wall to the elevator and take it down to the 1st floor.
