COMMANDER'S CORNER

Almost out of the wintery weather and into spring. In a few short weeks it will be Memorial Day. As always, after the parade we will have a buffet at the post. The property deal is progressing but very slowly. This is a very important matter for all post members. Please try to attend a meeting to learn more. Our state VFW Convention in Rocky Hill will be June 12-15. Try to attend one of those days and stop by our hospitality room. Try to recruit new post members, carry an application with you and hand I them out to eligible veterans. If you know of anyone serving in Iraq, I Afghanistan, Kosovo or Korea, let us now. We will pay their first year's membership as our way of saying thank you for your service. Remember if you card is not up-to-date after Dec. 31, 2007, you are NOT! a member in good standing and must sign the guest book at the canteen.

25th - Free buffet at post after Memorial Day parade.

JUNE

6th - Member's Meeting.

9th - Ladies Auxiliary Meeting.

12th - 15th VFW State Convention in Rocky Hill.

16th - Men's Auxiliary Meeting.

NOTICE

The regular meeting of the Men's Auxiliary has been changed from the fourth Monday of the month to the third Monday of the month. The time has also changed from 7 p.m. to 6 p.m.

MEMBERSHIP

Dues for the upcoming year are now being collected. Please pay them direct to National Headquarters in Kansas City. The post does not receive your membership cards anymore. The Quartermaster only receives temporary ones. Remember try and recruit a new member. We can only grow if our membership grows. Today's youth is our future. Remember if you dues are not paid you are not a member in good standing.
