HOMEROOM PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Volunteering for this position cancels your development fee. Please be aware that by committing to this position, there is an expectation that the responsibilities will be fulfilled. The duties of Homeroom Parent are as follows:
    • Help serve as guides for Open Houses.
    • Plan and run classroom parties
    • Coordinate Country Christmas theme basket
    • Collect and organize Campbell Soup labels

Serve as guides for Open Houses. RLCA has 4 Open Houses each year. You will need to serve as a guide for at least 1 Open House during the school year. The Open House dates will be posted here as soon as they are scheduled.

Plan and Run Classroom Parties Each class is welcome to have parties. Suggested parties include Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and end-of school. You are welcome to celebrate student’s birthdays. The PTF Representative is responsible for organizing the teacher’s birthday celebration so if you want to help with that please see your PTF Rep.

Coordinate Country Christmas Theme Basket Country Christmas is a school-wide craft and auction fundraiser. For this event, each class donates a themed basket to be auctioned off. In the past, the themes have included “Christmas Cookies,” which included all types of cookie making material; “Family Game Night,” which included popcorn, candy and board games like Pictionary; “Sports,” which included seat cushions, an Eagles throw blanket, hats, etc… A form will be supplied in early October and your “theme” must be submitted for approval (we wouldn’t want to have 10 baskets with the same theme). Once approved you must help collect the items. You can either collect money from each student and you purchase the basket items or you can have the student’s each brings something to put in the basket. And it doesn’t always have to be in a basket – people have set everything on a baking sheet and put cellophane around it, or for Christmas Wrapping Paper one class put everything in a special plastic container designed to store all your wrapping pieces.

Collect and Organize Campbell Soup Labels Did you know that Red Lion Christian Academy receives valuable school supplies by submitting soup labels and Box Tops. Make sure your class knows the value in this simple task of clipping labels. You are responsible for collecting these each month and delivering them to the school secretary in elementary or the upper school. If there is not already a receptacle in the classroom, please provide any type you would like – it could be a plastic bin or a shoebox. If you need help, see PTF Secretary.
